I am hoping actually getting away from his family helped, but I do worry from time to time. Just to help explain, they are the only ones of my 11 neighbours that I won't take a delivery for.

Well done for getting your cam belt done. Painful but very important!4

Mickyh-s said:Just jumping on to say 'hi'. I have spent the last two days reading from the start of your diary. Very inspirational and love your determination.
I was hoping to get to the last page and read that you had your energy bills sorted!
That's a lot to catch up!! LOL about the energy bills. I feel better now I've earmarked £400 for the past and about £150 for current (which should come down in summer but which I may leave the same to counteract the rises). I think not having any idea at all was making it so much more stressful.
Thanks @beanielou - you wonder why they can't email it to you like normal people!! And why they don't immediately have a button they can press to auto send it even if paper....
Hi Stripey - I haven't bought the blackout blind yet - it will need to wait until next month with the roofer costs. I'm hoping to perhaps ring the doctor tomorrow or Friday as I don't have morning meetings.
@badmemory - that's very sad about the roofer.
@Alchemilla - I'm relieved I've got the cam belt done - I would have kicked myself if it had snapped and wrecked the engine while I hesitated...
Thanks @boxofpaws I'm proud of myself - even managed to strip my own bed and put the stuff in the wash today... Put it this way my allergies were getting bad... Usually a sign it's well overdue. Oops!! Cleaner comes later though so as discussed always good...
I've listened to a Nora R book the last few days as well. She is such a good storyteller it's really easy to lose yourself in the tale which is just what I needed. Interestingly this was about someone in the wrong profession, with a disapproving mother - who then goes off to find herself and becomes a successful writer while developing her magic gifts... Sounds about right... She started a blog about finding herself... So no parallels at all...
I'd best go and log on for my day job... Have a good day all.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

You're suddenly sounding far more upbeat about things - I find it hard to believe this is entirely coincidental with your doing less running around for DD. Much as of course you love her, you do need to make sure she understands that the things you're doing for her impact your health, not just your pocket, I'd suggest. I know you say she's been less than understanding about the money side before - it's to be hoped that the health impact would make her stop and think, though.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Hi EH
I have recently had that exact conversation with a couple of people in RL. It's not coincidental. It's hard as she has disabilities too. Trying to be careful what I write....
I am going to speak to Ex again before she returns so that hopefully there are less health & £ impacts for me.
My roof is fixed!!! My sis was right £180. The bill hasn't come yet.
My pension split has now happened. The cetv of my portion had gone up £5k so the costs deduction hasn't had too much impact. Glad he won't be entitled to more. Really hope I can transfer it in a few years time as DB but would allow earlier retirement / part time work.

Thanks @beanielou
I've had a better week. Boss says I'm looking better too!! Always makes me wonder how bad I looked before. I was completely wiped though and that tends to show! Did I mention DS has covid? This is about day 3 I think but he seems to be slightly better today than yesterday. One of my little relatives ended up in hospital this week too but was let out the same day. There just seems to be so much going on at the moment...
DD's arrangements keep changing which makes it hard for the both of us... It's possible she may be home for more nights of the week moving forwards... I've tried to call Ex but he's not picking up. However, I laughed at myself as this was always one of his gaming nights so that could be why!! He's replied to part of my message - just not the important bit...
I have however done something for me today. I've booked to go with DS to HP world around my birthday later in the year. He was abroad when we went as a family. I've put it on a CC for now so should update my signature - and I'll probably have to book accommodation too nearer the time - but really happy to have something to look forward to. I had planned to do something for my birthday - so that's in the budget - I've just spent it slightly earlier than planned.
I am tempted to buy another couple of dresses too... They are in the sale and by R0m@n so should be okay quality... They are free returns. This would be over-spending theoretically this month - but would be paid off in full next month.... I've decided to think on that overnight.
Right I need to change quickly and get off to my balance class. Time has run away from me... I think I am pretty much caught up on my work hours though now - 5 hours extra in 3 days - so really pleased with that. I've booked a half day off one day next week as I have a counselling appointment at a weird time.

Great news about the roof, it's still a cheap repair.
Keep messages to ex short and to the point, that way the important bit doesn't get missed.
Hope DS has a speedy recovery.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.5 -
Good news about roof costing what you thought - obviously better not to have to spend at all but at least you had a reputable roofer who charged what you expected.
I appreciate that you need to be sensitive with your daughter - hopefully you can find a balance that works for you both. Kids (even grown up kids) can sometimes take their parents for granted and expect a lot from them without realising the impact.Good advice from moving forward - short messages so the important bit can't be missed. I shall try and apply this at work too 😀.6
