Thanks for info and confirmation that they may accept such switches, although having to switch to different tariff for the gas first and then trust they will switch and backdate to the requested tariff seems as if it may be fraught with issues.  

Anyway 'my friend' reckons that now they have been put on Exclusive Fixed Nov 23 and its showing as their tariff online might just give it shot (if they can summon the energy to spend another hour on chat...).

Hey all, just wanted to report back on my attempt to get myself on Exclusive Fix Nov 2023 -- and from the looks of it, it was successful. On the account website it showing the new tariff details on both energies, and my Direct Debits have been adjusted to match. This still more expensive than I'd like, but it gives me price certainty for another year a half, and lets us prepare ourselves for the bigger impact that may come then.

I am elec only.
And yes I am cheeky enough to ask.
they said I’d have to switch to them and then they’d switch the tarriff - which we know is dependent on finding the “right” agent.
I am not willing to chance that on an inevitably higher tarriff.
there’s a chance they may shut this down at some point.
personally I don’t think it’s worth the risk.

You can let your friend know it's worth a shot but don't rest at that point.

I never got onto the Zero Fix in the end ('can't do, not eligible, etc' after a month or so of trying with multiple confirmations on the way), but instead was offered the Exclusive Fix Oct 22 v2 which is actually cheaper in my circumstance, for electricity, obviously I stopped pursuing what had been agreed several times at that point.

I then was SOLR to EDF from Zog and BG agreed to switch it in to the Exclusive Fix Oct 22 v2 - you'll have to come in on a different tariff and then get them to subsequently make the change and backdate it; the guy at the time said he would do that on the 27th of Jan however it's not yet been done in my account (BG took over on 25th Jan) so I'm in the middle of that.

I'm also trying to get to Exclusive Fix Nov 23 and was told OK in a chat on Tuesday and I'd get the paperwork in the post in 5 days. My account has not switched online or in the app to reflect that, so I am literally on a mobile chat right now where an agent has confirmed they've also just done it and I should see the change in 24 hours. We'll see how that goes.

Happy to report back my account is now dual fuel on the Exclusive Fix Nov 23. All that’s left is to figure out if I have the brass neck to deal with the 25th Jan to 3rd Feb gas being on the ‘wrong ‘ tariff, best to see what the bill says and maybe leave more than well enough alone…

Another one here on nov 23 for electric, going to move gas over as soon as the credit is added to the EDF account. They will move the gas to nov 23 as well once it transfers

Did a chat agent tell you they would?
personally I think it’s a gamble.
you'll almost certainly have to risk a switch to a pricier tariff and then risk them saying it’s not available.
what if they shut the loophole completely?
ive done a formal complaint and they said they won’t be bound by errors by their chat agents even if you have transcripts.

Ask for a deadlock letter and go to the Ombudsman upon receipt, or after eight weeks if they don't send one.  That may make them reconsider.
