Well it’s clear in the terms shown above it has to be a NEW account and it can’t be an existing Halifax account!fly-catchers said:I have a reward account I have had for many years in its many forms. I couldn’t work out if as an existing customer I could do a switch to that account. Or do I need to set up another reward account with them first? I actually did try a switch today which progressed to me giving the bank account I was transferring. But them got a somethings gone wrong screen!4 -

And I've seen before people post that they have more than the two max: Do they risk attracting attention while opening an Ultimate RA/switching/collect bonus/near immediate downgrade?
For the switch incentive last year I opened an Ultimate Reward account as I already had three Reward accounts and didn't want to risk downgrading/closing one in case I couldn't get another one. Switch to Ultimate Reward was no issue and as soon as incentive was paid I downgraded it to a normal account and then switched it out for a bonus with another bank.4 -
Wouldn't they let you downgrade to a Reward account (and then keep it for an extra £60 pa rather than switching it out)? Or perhaps you didn't want to risk it?crumpet_man said:For the switch incentive last year I opened an Ultimate Reward account as I already had three Reward accounts and didn't want to risk downgrading/closing one in case I couldn't get another one. I'm tempted to just go through all the switch bonuses but I'm a bit worried about the impact on my credit score. I noticed my rating on experian drop from excellent to good after just one switch and I'm worried about what multiple will do to it now. I mean I'm not expecting to actually have to borrow anytime soon but the extremely cautious side of me says you never know.0

Meh - one made-up number never seen by lenders may be replaced by another made-up number never seen by lenders, big deal!andyhicks88 said:I'm tempted to just go through all the switch bonuses but I'm a bit worried about the impact on my credit score. No option to downgrade to Reward as I already had three of them. That's why I opened a new Ultimate Reward account for the switch as there was no option to open a new Reward account.YorkshireBoy said:

I have just gone for this method as I too already have 3 Reward Accounts. I didn't try it last year as, like Yorkshireboy, I was nervous of losing one or more of my Reward Accounts. I must be getting more reckless in my old age!crumpet_man said:soulsaver said:What's the routine if you already have the 2(?)max Reward acs? Anybody risking downgrading one and opening a new?

The Ultimate Reward account was opened instantly after answering all the questions concerning eligibility for the insurances.
I have completed the switch form but just realised I put in the details of Visa debit card I have on the donor account rather than the new Mastercard they recently sent. Both cards are valid at present.
I will report back on the progress and success or otherwise.2 -
AFAICS there is no stipulation in the Ultimate Reward terms that says you can't have it in addition to any number of basic Reward acs, so technically you should be OK.noh said:

It's whether you downgrade after, say, a month or two and undoing all the bundled benefits construes taking the P & attracts manual attention.

Thanks to Zanderman's post I applied for and was accepted. Switch of a RBS account initiated and date chosen. It was all very easy to complete.I'm not a "serial switcher" but did receive £125 from RBS to switch and received a further £50 to stay for the required time.Fortunately I am in a position to credit £1500 initially then each month to avoid the £3 fee.0

unless there is a minimum term to hold the account, you could pay the £3 fee for a month and then switch away again if you can't afford £1500
