China and Russia not at the Cop(out) 26, the worlds biggest polluters
Should "biggest polluters" be assessed in absolute terms or per-capita terms?
Obviously, both are important.
Another consideration in counting carbon and assigning to nations is the possibility of double-counting and / or mis-allocation.
If I buy a TV that was made in China, should the embedded CO2 be attributed to China or to UK?
What about the transport CO2 to get it to me?0 -
What about lithium battery mining pollution? It's in the guardian so must be true (or partly) despite what the EV fanboys opinions say.
I'll probably wait until the mining for these enormous batteries is both ethical and non polluting.Funnily, i've been pondering a small Caddy sized van to facilitate a side project i'm going to work on. I havent seen much movement yet, but in theory markets like pickups and vans are likely to be hit by the upcoming downturn.Would be interesting to hear if anyone has direct experience? Why? So you can argue with them?0 -

1. Death
2. Taxes
3. Flat roofs leak
The whole climate grift falls into category 2.
When they start taking about population numbers someone let me know.
China and Russia not at the Cop(out) 26, the worlds biggest polluters, just sayin..............If some people do something, then fewer people will be affected more slowly. Sure Bozo is doing it because it is politically sensible, and the Yanks are just so arrogant and just don't think. Doesn't mean that the rest of us shouldn't at least make a decent effort.
I merely pointed out the irony of 2 of the worlds biggest polluters are not at the 'emergency' climate summit, I have my own opinion on climate change in a modest way and I live in the hope that good people will do good things regarding it but I don't buy into the over inflated hysteria about it all that seems to currently be the favoured trend (by some)
Just another reason to add to the many reasons I don't post here often, too many people who 'actually' believe their opinions mean something or just have some sort of 'need' to feed their inferiority complex?.
Opinions are just opinions, everybody has one, where as facts well that's a bit different isn't it and facts don't care about feelings.0 -

Do you have the same concern about the source of oil products, or any minerals used in production of everything or just when you want to try and bash electric cars? Sadly almost nothing is non polluting, but we can make things less polluting.
Would you rather be stuck in a closed garage with a diesel or an electric car?

How many times does someone e have to be (self admittedly) wrong before they cease to be an "expert"?
Because you know someone who smoked heavily yet lived to be 90, do you conclude that smoking isn't bad for you?
Every piece of data we have shows the world is heating up and that the ice caps *are* melting. Exact predictions of when they'll finally go aren't really the point. We're already starting to see the consequences of climate change.2 -

Anyway, car manufacturers are well aware lithium mining is far from ideal, hence the drive towards other methods like Lithium brine extraction etc.
If you're going to use these sorts of arguments against electric cars, surely you could try and keep up to date and use less tired points.2 -

Just playing Devil's Advocate - I personally believe mankind (humankind?) is aggravating the situation, and if we don't start making changes then the planet will let us know about it in a major way - eventually.Jenni x2 -

Does anyone believe we're *not* contributing to it? That all of the smoke we're pumping into the atmosphere is doing nothing? All of the litter along our coasts, waterways and in the sea?

Seems odd to take a moral high ground about one, but not the other?2
