  • hello lovely peeps. Thanks for your wonderful kindness and support. Been having a rough time but doing 'ok'. My knee's now 'doing a victory'. Honestly, I think a trip to the vet would be kindest.
The good news is I've lost 2lb:j . This is the first time I've had somthing wrong with me that has actually made me lose my appetite! So that's a bonus:rotfl: .

Thanks for your anger on my behalf re m-in-law comment- I really appreciate it, as I was so hurt at the time but of course I said nothing, but went in to instant 'keep the peace' mode. It was just so unnecssary. However, over all she is not nearly as bad as bails' dementor:rolleyes: . She's what is generally known as passive aggressive I think -all sweetness and light and then thrusts with a barbed comment when you least expect it ( and generally when DS is out of the room). His dad's a lovely man who is very sweet to me.
Re secret santa - concensus seems to be let's open them Xmas eve:j . Don't forget last 2nd class posting of parcels is next Monday.

All new peeps : vixie; lovely cuppa;121ynz and hermione I have added you to the chart/list and you'll need to post every wed your losses (or what ever day you do your weekly WI) to be included in the chart that evening. Look forward to being part of your sucess.

Seeing all your wonderful support for delly , and having been on the receiving end of it myself this week, makes me so proud to be a member of this forum and to consider you my friends

    love

  • whoa, lots of new peeps! hello all!

stayed on track yesterday thank goodness - even avoided eating any of the massive batch of cookies that i was making. I was still baking at 2330! Buti got all my pressies wrapped in the meantime which was good. I have a christmas dinner to go to tonight but i've already chosen my food - i really wanted pate but plumped for arrot and coriander soup. Baby steps . . . .

    Welcome to new people.
I have a maintain today, still staying positive about the fact I haven't gained. I tried a new diet today but had to eat a bread roll when I was out because I was so hungry. I think I will stick to my smaller plate and healthy eating plan.

delly hope you are feeling better, we are all with youxxxx

Having a salmon stir fry for dinner, bit worried about it because it does not seem much to eat for dinner and concerned I will be hungry after it, instead of filling up on veg and a WW dinner I am trying something new, it may work:D

well done brighton belle I do hope your knee gets better as that kind of pain I would not wish on anyone and isn't it funny how much you miss your leg when you can't walk on it lol xx

Oh, I don't know BB, I think yours could give mine a good run for her money with outrageous comments like that! Don't you hate the way they wait until the beloved son is out of earshot til they make their snide remarks, so they won't think badly of them. I mean, they could just approach it in a different way by, oh, say, BEING NICE!!! :D Sorry to hear about your Victory knee, that's the last thing you need. Have you been to the doctors, is it related?

Crumbs, that's not long til posting day - think I'll have to accept higher pp charges, just the way it is sometimes
Well done KPC, baking a huge bunch of cookies without eating any deserves a medal in my book! Small steps are the way forward, they seem to be working for me (in an up and down but overall downwards spiral). Poohbear, congratulations on your positive mental attitude about the maintain. Can I ask what you tried that didn't work, just out of interest? I've used smaller plates on and off for years and found it does make a difference, and now putting my cutlery down between mouthfuls is second nature I notice (which is an achievement with OH wolfing his food beside me!)
Salmon stir fry sounds lovely Victory, what is it about it do you think won't fill you up? I'm not sure which plan you're on (WW I think?) but going hungry doesn't sound like a good option; are there any 'healthy extras' you can have? It seems to ring a bell that you do feel hungry quite often, is there another plan that could be more suited to your needs perhaps?

...Wilroda What a lovely story, and for telling it to us all :T It proves that some Drs are willig to help (we've had some grim tales here during the year) so thank you!..

...Suggs I must admit that many years ago I resorted to laxatives, I got to the stage that I could squirt it through the eye of a needle :o :rotfl: (not that I tried) Sorry peeps too much information:o . I'm pleased to say that I didn't even consider it this time, no need to :j with all the help here. Isn't it strange what lengths we go too!. • finding it hard this week, at work people are bringing in goodies and the old 'its cristmas' line is about, my willpower is not and I am indulging. I don't expect any miracles when i weigh-in tomorrow.

I think the rest of you are fab, looking good in your photos and doing great with xmas around the corner. I will hang in there, take the good with the bad and Delly, I have been thinking of visiting the GP for a long time now, your honest post has helped me - I'll see how I get on in the new year but will visit the Gp if the weight doesn't shift. Look how much they help smokers, there isn't much help for us foodies now is there?

Take care all, and i'm getting my secret santa parcel together -must send it soon x
If you don't have something nice to say don't bother saying anything at all.
  • Hi Guys,

Wow, so many messages. I feel very humbled by the responses you've posted today. Thank you SO MUCH. I don't know how I'd managed without your support.

I'm sorry it took me so long to reply but I've been at work all day (internet access severly restricted) and I had my post op check up this evening (even private patients have to wait for 30 plus minutes but that's another story).

For anyone who is interested, Reductil isn't seen to be a weightloss miracle drug and isn't the most successful one available by any means. How it works is on your brain - it helps you feel fuller quicker and can suppress cravings which were my biggest downfall - an attack of the munchies for me could see me eating 40 plus points in one night.:o Now, I eat a lot more normally, I don't feel hungry as quickly. It is possible to over eat but not without feeling slightly ill (not nice). Some of the side effects of the meds are raised blood pressure (mine was low anyway so now it's normal!), constipation (suffered the other way with IBS and following gall bladder problems, so now that's normal too) and a tingly feeling (actually quite nice - like the shivers but better!). There are a lot of medical conditions that won't allow people to take this medication - certain types of pain killers, people with high blood pressure, anyone suffering from depression etc. I count myself very fortunate that I have been healthy enough to be prescribed this help.

The reason why I asked for Reductil and not xenical is because my issue isn't with eating lots of fatty foods at mealtimes. Since I started my first RC class 5 years ago I've wholeheartedly embraced low fat cooking. My problem was not fry ups and chip shop chips or fatty curry sauces etc. My problem is and always has been that I snack too much at night time. Unfortunately with being ill/burned out earlier this year my snacking went into overload and I've found it impossible to fight my cravings.

And you are completely right bargainbabe - why is it that smokers are acknowledged to have an addiction but anyone who over eats is just greedy. After all, you'll live without cigarettes but you can't survive without eating!

As for feeling better - how could I feel anything other than upbeat after all those lovely responses today. You really are a wonderful, supportive lovely bunch of peeps and I'd be proud to call any of you my friends.

    Thanks again everyone!

  • Hi peeps
here's the chart for this week. Congrats to retired lady as SOTW. Delly ,I was gutted to have to alter your total lost so far, but it's done now and after todays uplifting support you know you are going to get there again.
Names with lightblue didn't appear to post a WI this week. Any errors let me know.
Well donr to Anic and pixiedust for passing the monthly challenge goal in two weeks :T .
I've added the 3 newbies who can now start seeing week by week their sucesses. Froggygirl, I've also added you even though you din't ask: hope this was ok.
Victory - don't forget, you may have put on 2 lbs this week but you unintentionally lost a dramatic 4lbs last week becasue of your pain levels so it's probably just your body balancing out.
Emmalis: sorry, you were just too late for this weeks chart, but I'll add the 1lb loss to next week.
