Delly that dog sounds like a star, or even an angel as he is looking after you! Probably the cake wasn't very nice anyway.
Missyg I'd like to see your pictures, just because it's been so good to see everyone, but really if you don't want to put your picture up it doesn't matter. I don't think any one should feel pressurised.
Well I've just wrapped up a pass the parcel for 28 children ... my daughter is a teacher too so I get to help out on these occasions. I don't think we had prizes in every layer when I was little, just a load of newspaper layers and a lot of ripping. I know none of you can possibly be as old as me but what do you remember?
And now off to bed, very early because I'm sleeping with my DGD who has a nasty cough and is likely to throw up about every hour, so that my DG can have a decent night's sleep. Oh the joy of being a granny. (and NOT nise or nice in the middle of the night)0 -

You're absolutely right, there was only one prize and that was in the middle of a lot of newspaper.
When I do them for my daughter I alternate a sweet with a forfeit - nothing too scarey - count to 10 in French, say the alphabet backwards etc, it makes it last longer and cuts down on the sweets.

Hi, I wonder if I could kind of 'officially' join? I've been reading this thread since Lose Weight 14 but didn't like to ask if I could join. You have all been an inspiration to me and given me lots of laughs, you are a great support group.
I have reached my target having lost nearly 3 stone and my hardest challenge now is to 'maintain'. I followed the RC diet and keep a food diary.
My biggest issue is portion sizes and chocolate. I am planning to keep up with the food diary because I feel that if I stop that I will go off the rails again.
Do any of you have any tips for maintaining? I love foods like butter on fresh bread, pork pies, chocolate - you get the picture? But I dare not reintroduce them because I do not have the will power to stop at one.

Unfortunately gn the cake was GORGEOUS - from a local home bakery and just the way I like it. (very particular about birthday cake, can't just be anything) and the only reason why I hung on to a slice was because I knew it would be good. (none of that cheapie sugary rubbish from Tesco or Asda dressed up at Thomas the tank at this party!).
Oh well, OH's birthday is in February, maybe I'll get some more then.

Morning and welcome, I am maintainer here also, well at least a trier:rotfl:portion sizes is me also, not choc as I am diabetic but white bread, bacon, belly pork, get the picture?:rotfl: :rotfl: for me it is not having it in the house, not buying it, not having it anywhere near me, cut it off completely and that way there is no temptation whatsover and my weight has a fighting chance of staying how it is now;) that is just me though, other people say in moderation, a little can do no harm, don't deprive yourself, etc I am just saying what I do, I tried to re-introduce some of them, happily the fried bread tasted disgusting and will not be having that again, my taste buds have changed and what I used to love like greasy spoon stuff is no longer what I want which is a huge calorie weight bonus for me:rotfl: :rotfl: I have not had it for so long, I don't miss it and know that I prefer now what I do eat which is healthy lovely fresh stuff fills me with energy etc rather than making me feel flat, bloated etc.
Xmas day and boxing day will eat happily though as I have done enough to be able to incorporate that within the plan not to affect it weight wise so much so will not feel deprived etc and will thoroughly enjoy the treat I am allowing myself.0 -
Just incase I have no time later as this week is a bit hectic I would like to say a very heartfelt thank you to every single one of you on this thread all year long since I started on Jan 4th..... you have helped me with my weight loss, my mother, my probs, encouraged me while in pain, kept me going, made me laugh, made me think, writen solutions for me and they have been fab, made me be inspired, kept me focused, I owe this thread and you lovely people a lot.
Many times I have lost and gained weight and when it goes, I just think oh well done now and go on to re gain because I no longer look at the calories, the portion sizes, what and when I am eating and when the comments stop and the goal has been reached it goes back on.
I have often been overwhelmed by my mother or the pain or the sheer annoyance of having to always watch what you eat and how much etc but on here it may just be words on a thread, but the advice given has been invaluable and it has made me go WOW I will do that then, or that is it, if I do that that is the solution and has helped no end not to be swallowed up by it all.
It is because of you all and this thread that I am at goal weight and continue to be with the hints, tips, encouragement and inspiration all around me I cannot go back to what I was as I would feel I had failed you all and myself.
Thank you very much, every single one of you should know how very much appreciated this thread and this year has been, each one of you needs to take credit for me being at this stage now.
Thank you very much, you have been invaluable to me.
Oh and :xmassign: :xmassign: :xmassign: :snow_grin :snow_laug :santa2: :xmassmile0
