Just popped on to say hello for now and will come back when I have managed to catch up on all the pages since I last logged on.
I've just got back from a short break in Braemar with OH as an early birthday treat for me and I am so happy with it I hope I don't bore you with the details - if I do - feel free to ski p to the bottom of my post and hopefully help me with my dilemna.
I've never been to Braemar before or anywhere in the Highlands, etc but I've always loved the idea of sitting beside a roaring log fire when it is freezing cold and snowy outside so he booked it up a few months ago with David Urquart Bus Tours (again this was something we had never done before - i.e. the bus tour).
When we turned up at the bus station I wasn't at all put off by the fact that we were the youngest there and the average age was about 65/70 as I know people a year so older than ourselves can have just as much fun as people half their age. However when we sat in our allocated seats I wondered what we had let ourselves in for when the older gentleman sitting in front and the one to our side started comparing notes about the operations they had had and one said "I bet you can't beat a quadruple bi-pass" to which the other replied "Well I was only 30 minutes from death"!! I was sorely tempted to say "well I bet neither of you have had a ceseariean section" but decided against it!!
I needn't have worried though - I don't know whether the two of them were only winding each other up or not but once we picked up at another couple of stops and eventually got to Braemar - things couldn't have gone better.
The room we were given was absolutely fantastic- four poster - large bay windows with a stunning view of the snow covered hills and another window facing over the river to the village and a bottle of bubbly sitting on the table waiting for us.
After our dinner I decided I just had to stick on my boots, fleecy bunnett and thick gloves and go out for a walk - it didn't matter that it was minus 10°C outside - it was great - it was just so picturesque and then we could come back and sit in front of the big log fire. Yesterday was a glorious sunny day and even though the temperature didn't get above minus 8°C it was a great day for walking.
The place just looked like something from a Christmas Card - (they still have their christmas decorations up - whether this is because the council workers are gritting and clearing snow from the roads I don't know).
Anyway, now that my fantastic weekend is over I have a bit of a dilemna. I had been very good all last week as I knew I was going to enjoy myself over the weekend and was really naughty and jumped on Boots' scales before I got on the bus on Friday morning. I was delighted when they said I had lost 3lbs since last weigh in and took me to 14st 12lbs. As you can see from my signature my next mini-milestone is to be 14 something by my big 4-0 on Wednesday. So - dilemna is - do I go with my weighin from Friday and a bigger "put on" next week - meaning I have achieved my next mini-target or do I have my normal weigh in tomorrow as I know I will have put weight on due to my weekend and probably not meet my mini-target.
I am going out for another four meals this week with various family, friends and work colleagues so I know a plus next week is inevitable (although I will be good to try and minimise the damage) but I am only 40 once and I know I will get the weight back off so what do I do - am I 14st 12 for my 40th with a big gain next week or do I weight myself tomorrow - maybe not hit my target and minimise the gain for next week?
Oops - sorry - didn't realise I rabbitted on so much0 -
Anic~Glad that you had a fab time on your mini break.

Thank you Anic for such a lovely post, if you ever give your OH the elbow send him my way (and Brighton belles!! but I've got in first BB:p ) MrP would never do anything like that. As for your dilemma, what dilemma??? As you say you are only 40 once, I say go and jolly well enjoy yourself, you'll only regret it if you don't, and any resultant weight gain will soon be shed - no dilemma...
...beanie Why are you starving? That will only make you want to eat more when you do; so try and eat something healthy that will satisfy you (that's an order). I've had three cairns, the first was male (the squeaky toy hater) and then two girls who were mother and daughter. The daughter was diabetic later in life and we had to inject her daily with insulin, that's the only association I've had with the disease fortunately; after she died we decided never again, it just broke us up too much
xxxxI wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latterbut my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!

Havent been on much, been over on live on £4000 for a year challenge, finding it hard to concentrate on two things at a time, losing weight and saving money which I feel the same principles apply to both, anyone ever read Alan Carr's "Easyweigh to lose weight" it is a great book and very thought provoking:D . Anyhow my friend and I are trying together and she weighed me today and I had lost three pounds so I feel that is my cue to get really motivated:jLive on a little over £4k challenge
