    Hi everyone

I have now received the DQ and will be sending it back to the court and the claimant by email. Shall I also email it to their solicitor? 🤔
Also any idea which local London county court is efficient as I’ve read so many bad reviews for county courts in London and I don’t know which one to write in my DQ. 😔

    Thanks

You don't get much choice as most go to a central court in London. It will be by phone or video I expect and pot luck with the Judge.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

    Hi CM,

So am I not allowed to choose? I was under the impression that I could write down my preferred local county court on the DQ?

Then do so , but don't be surprised if it's allocated to a different court , preferred is not an absolute

The case is normally allocated to the Defendant's local County Court, determined by postcode. If a different court is requested, you should put down a reason for choosing that court, e.g. it's nearer to where you work.

But with many London courts, such as Uxbridge, Watford, Barnet, Bromley, Croydon and so on, they will often re-allocate the case for hearing at either Clerkenwell & Shoreditch, or the Central London County Court at the RCJ, both of which have a dozen courtrooms so that in theory, the case gets heard sooner.

But in practice, both of those places are overloaded with cases, and parking cases, regarded as the lowest of low priorities by court staff and Judges alike, are often put on an Unassigned List, meaning they only get heard if a Judge becomes free during the day. This often means that you wait around all day, only to be told that no Judges are available, and the case is then adjourned to another date a few months away.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

    Oh wow 😮 I understand.
Sorry for a dumb question but Do you think it’s best to just leave it blank then? I live in London 🤔

Don't leave it blank, or they might transfer it to the Court nearest the Claimant.

    Just put 'Defendant's Home Court'.
