BTW, after it's been resolved consider making a formal complaint in respect of all the grief it has caused you, especially if you were told the high consumption was accurate and/or you were sent a huge bill.

The people answering the phone don't generally know anything about electricity. If they did, they would know that to use 500kWh in a day you would have to be running an arc furnace.
Make sure they realise your meter is faulty, get someone out to look at it and it will all get sorted out.

Electricity meters are almost all 5-digit. The one pictured should be 5. It's only since the meter had it's wobbly that it's switched to 4+3 decimals.
Her's a stock photo of one that's working correctly. See five digits and no decimals?:

Is the photo you sent to your supplier either of those you've posted in this thread, or a different one? It would be informative for us to see it if it's another one.

As others have said, please don't panic about this. It will get resolved.

As everyone else has said, your meter used to have a 5 digit display, and you gave these 5 numbers to the supplier which was correct and your bills were fine.

Somethings gone weird with the meter and it has reset itself to 0000 AND it is showing 4 digits, a decimal place and then some units.  You'd not noticed this - which is an easy mistake because 1) the decimal point is very small and easy to miss; and 2)the new reading actually begins with a 2 so it wasn't so obvious.

Just make sure you explain this to your supplier and make sure they understand the meter is reset.

The display can be configured to show decimal places or not, it is not a fixed 4 leading digit display.

I'd still suspect that there is a firmware issue as well though as it is usually configured not to show decimal places on that screen...

I will mention what you have said this resetting makes sense they are coming to check my meter 26th it’s just a nightmare having to wait so long to get it sorted. I’m now using the plug indoor thingy which actually shows what I’m using to prove hopefully it’s not my fault so far today 3kw which seems more normal
