    For once we had sunshine!

In the morning a bit of housework done, some washing line dried.

Went for a walk later in the afternoon and got some chippy chips as a treat to have with dinner which was home made Coronation chicken.  we had roast chicken yesterday and I made the Coronation with some leftovers.

    Weather very mixed today.

Breakfast was cereal, lunch sandwiches and tonight its sausage pasta.

Went to the dentist this morning for check up and clean plus an x-ray - all included in the dental plan I'm on.  Thank goodness all is well.

Girls night out at the pub tonight with my friend.

Goodness me, its more like November than August - apart from the heat.  Its really humid, fog horn going and hasn't stopped raining since lunchtime.  We managed a walk around the village and called into the cafe for morning coffee.

Batch baking done today.  7 portions of chicken jalfrezi and 5 portions of lasagne.  DH is coming for the BH weekend so I am prepared so I'm not spending all my time cooking!

Breakfast was crumpets with scrambled eggs, lunch was sausage pasta and tonight its soup (which I found in freezer) and rolls.

Last week the lawn mower died.  DH got a part for it £8 which arrived yesterday.  When he came back this morning from his volunteering on the museum site, he had two lawn mowers in the back of the car!  Two people had heard (no idea how) about the mower and brought mowers for him - they would have gone to the tip otherwise. Both work!  DH has also repaired our mower.  He has cleared out the shed so there is now room for all three!  I don't think we will ever need to buy another mower.  The joys of living in a small village I guess.

We had jerk chicken for dinner with pineapple - I made 12 individual pineapple upside down puddings with the rest of the pineapple.

Also did some gardening and pulled up the leeks - will be making cheesey leek pancakes tomorrow.

Summer has returned and dare I say it?  But.... its too hot!  Anyway first off we went to the local seal sanctuary,  got a good reduction for being 60plus and also saved almost £4 by booking online yesterday.  Last time we went there was 20 odd years ago, was really enjoyable plus (and the real reason for going), the tickets give free entry for a year.  Will be a great place to visit in the winter as it was very crowded today.

Afterwards I had an annual check up at the Dr's and fingers crossed all is well.  Then we had a walk down to the village, had tea and cake and then popped to the pub for a glass of wine.  Back home for dinner of cheesey leek pancakes.

Breakfast was toast and lunch was sausage roll and banana (had as a picnic at the seal sanctuary).

I like the kind of tickets that you can buy as a 1 day treat but then last the whole year.  We have a museum that we use quite often and its the same there.

Yesterday was my birthday.  We started off with a dip in a geothermal pool in a nearby lido.  Was first time we had been there, after saying for years "we must go there".  It will definitely be something we will do more of in the future.  Locals got a significant discount which was even better.

In the afternoon we went to a local hotel and had afternoon tea which I really love.

Early evening we then walked into the village had cocktails and listened to some live music.  Then it started raining....  we came home and had a supper of leftover roast tatties reheated and the rest of the Coronation chicken and of couse, birthday cake :)  We watched Gosford Park which is one of my favourties.

Today we are meeting DS from the bus (train strike) later on.  So a bit of housework, sewing, reading till then.  Its raining at the moment, hoefully the sun will come out later.

Breakfast was toast, lunch jacket potatoes and cheese and tonight when DS gets back we are having chicken curry with Naan and some poppadoms and rice.
