Baking morning today. I made two cakes, one for the neighbour and one which I cut in half and has gone in freezer. Also made some spicy ginger type biscuits. Again I used a third of the dough for biscuits for the next few days and put the rest of the dough in the freezer. This way we don’t eat everything in sight straight away!
I also saw something on an FB post and tried to replicate it – looked nothing like the photo on the post but tasted delicious. Used ready rolled puff pastry, covered in tomato sauce (should have been paste but I didn’t have any), fried up an onion and garlic (from the garden) and then topped it with that, then some oregano and loads of grated cheddar. Rolled it up like a Swiss roll and cut it into portions and baked for 30 mins. We had one each for lunch and the rest have been frozen in portions so that gives us two packed picnic lunches (like the sausage rolls but a vegetarian version)!
This afternoon a bit of housework and tidying up.
Sunny again, but a bit breezy and a few dark clouds are coming in. It’s forecast bad weather for tomorrow, but we will see.
Breakfast was toasted teacake – we sat in the garden and ate it. Lunch the veggie Swiss roll and tonight we are having oven baked fish, oven chips and mushy peas.

Today I did quite a lot of sewing. Also batch cooked some bacon scones as I had a couple of rashers to use up.
Housework also done.
We went out this afternoon to the local garden centre and had tea and cake (which doubled as lunch)! Breakfast was pancakes - we had toad in the hole yesterday and had some batter mixture left over, hence the pancakes. Tea tonight was sausage and mash - again using a couple of sausages which did not go into the toad.Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
We started the day meeting friends at Spoons for breakfast. Was nice to catch up.
We had an early tea of fried rice and leftover duck (from the Chinese we had a couple of weeks ago), about 3.30. Then we went to the next village as DH had a blood pressure test. We took a towel with us and after the appointment we went to the nearby beach (which has free parking after 4pm). We managed to park and then spent an hour or so paddling and sitting on the beach.Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -

We were just saying tonight how lucky we are to be by the beach. We moved from London about 21 years ago - it was a wrench at first, but by goodness, it was the best thing we have ever done.
For a change weather has been lovely here, nice and sunny with a light breeze.Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
Dreadful day weather wise - dark and constant drizzle.
I've sorted out my profile etc ready for my OU course which starts in October. I have also started anther one of their free courses with 8 hours of study.
I also heard that a friend who I have not seen for 21 years is coming to visit in November - am so very excited. It will be a good excuse to have a serious deep clean, declutter and change around in the house.
Most of the morning was taken up with the computer, the screen looked funny and was giving me a headache - after DH going into the loft to try and find another screen which he thought we had (we haven't), he checked the cables and found a cable had slightly pulled out, once it was put in properly it was fine. So relieved as I did a quick Google and a new screen would have cost upwards of £99.
Breakfast was porridge and banana, lunch crackers and spread and tonight its my favourite Whitby scampi (has to be Whitby) with oven chips and peas with a big of soda bread on the side.Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
The OU course sounds very interesting. I must make a more determined effort to complete my free language course! Reunions with old friends can be emotional and uplifting.1

Today was an open day at the small museum site that DH volunteers at. I went and volunteered to do the catering, mostly bacon and sausage butties, cakes and cream teas. We did really well and I really enjoyed it. Although, it was hard as it was a full day from 9 to 4. Its been a few years since I "worked" all day - although it could hardly be called work as lots of chatting etc., but it was a full day on my feet with a sit down now and again. We made some decent money though which will go towards more stuff for the site.
Breakfast was a bacon butty at the site, I also had a couple of cakes. Tonight its home made quiche with some cauliflower cheese.
We are off tomorrow for one night at a hotel in Devon near Dartmoor. Am looking forward to it. Was a special offer for one night on a Sunday night including breakfast and a bottle of prosecco on arrival. We will just need to pay for extra drinks and the evening meal.
