DS went back today so we were up earlish to get him to the station.  We then called in at a big Tesco and I got some new tupperware and a Slimming World Magazine.  I have made the decision to join, but am waiting till after our holiday - week after next we are off for 10 days to Oxford and Devon.

The Magazine had lots of recipes in it food we like to eat.  As you know I prefer batch cooking and freezing portions, so I now feel quite organised to be able to do this with SW.  I have done an online shop which will be delivered on Friday, so next week will do some batch cooking so that when I get back from hols I can hit the ground running.  I have needed to lose weight for years.  DH could also do with losing a few pounds, so we will both benefit hopefully.

Breakfast was a banana for me as I was worrying about getting DS off to the train (he had toast), lunch was chicken sandwich and tonight its the last of the lasagne leftover from last night with salad.
Have just found out that there is a Free Membership voucher in this week's Bella magazine for SW so will save you a bit of money if you get that.
  • You seem to have a very full retirement. I take it finances are ticking along nicely?

Yes, 4 years retired now.  Will be even better in 5 years time when I can claim my state pension!

Getting ready for our holidays - leaving on Saturday and returning Monday week - so 9 nights away.  Its our 30th wedding anniversary on Monday and we are stopping in a posh hotel near Blenheim Palace.  After that onto Torquay for our literary festival.

All Postcodes etc., written down ready for satnav; all tickets and hotel bookings printed out ready (I got caught out once when my phone wasn't charged and couldn't show a ticket)!!  Never again!

Bags in the dining room ready to go into the car tomorrow and then upstairs will be tidied and hoovered.

This morning I ran the clippers over DH's hair and he looks smart now.

Breakfast was scrambled eggs on muffins cooked outside as it is so nice, lunch cheese and crackers and tonight its the last of the cheese and leek pancakes with veggies.

  • Well, back off holidays.  Had a great time and even managed to stay under budget!

Done a couple of loads of washing, but having to dry them inside on horses as weather is awful, rain, rain and even more rain.  Suitcases back up in attic.

Meal plan done for this week - I'm joining Slimming World on Friday morning so have stocked up on some bits and bobs and will make some recipes from the magazine.

I'm quite excited today because I've had notification that my Open University books etc., are arriving shortly.  Regarding that, just bought a webcam with microphone (I have earphones), so that I can take part in some online discussion - as its freshers fortnight next week :)

  • Glad to hear you had a good time. This weather is awful isn't it?. But looks like it will improve again next week. I have been busy and although I managed to finish one OU course, I haven't done much on the 2nd one yet, in fact I was just going to spend an hour on it. So much to do and so little time....lol.

  • Today I joined Slimming World - nearly burst into tears when I stood on the scales, but its done and I'm glad I decided to do something about it.  I have initially said I would like to lose 2 stone.

Afterwards we went shopping armed with a meal plan.

Tonight we plan to go out to hear a band in our village - about a 5 minute walk away and in a cafe - well, they have erected a marquee outside just in case the weather turns.  I plan to just have a coffee there.  There is going to be a sea shanty festival at the pub tomorrow from mid-day and I will have a glass of wine there instead.  It's all kicking off this weekend in the village :)

Breakfast was overnight oats, lunch carrot soup (no bread) and dinner was a home made fish pie served with lots of salad.

  • Sounds lovely. Good luck with SW. I'm sure you'll do well, as it sounds like you have the right mind set.

  • Today we took the car in for its service and MOT - it passed! yippee.

Had a look around the charity shop and bought 3 murder mystery jigsaw puzzles which will keep us going during the winter months.

Had a walk around the village (without spending anything), really warm and sunny and still lots of visitors about.

Breakfast was overnight oats (eaten at the garage), lunch hm carrot soup and muffin and tonight its Cajun chicken stir fry with Slimming World chips.
