That seems to be the only sure way to minimise your credit balance throughout the year. Good to know the option is available.

Anybody who does not wish to pay by monthly direct debit in advance, I would suggest contacting Octopus stating how wish to pay and see what they say, I have not seen any tariffs or anything said anywhere to suggest different rates via other methods, just that someone signing up has to set up a direct debit as part of sign up process and then contact Octopus asking for change in payment method. https://octopus.energy/help-and-faqs/categories/all/what-payment-methods-do-you-offer/

Obvious but sound advice, I would say.

The above article includes this snipit.
"Loss-making tariffs must continue to be honoured, Brearley states, including by suppliers who take on customers from bankrupt firms."
Jonathan Brearley Chief Executive OFGEM
Does this mean that Octopus Energy should have kept us on our Avro Energy tariff rates?

. . . even if it's a loss-making tariff.

My personal details and meter numbers are showing on my Octopus account but little else. Octopus seem to think Avro will issue final statements in the next couple of weeks but I wouldn't hold my breath. No worries.

I don't know if the "independent body" that normally checks (and often adjusts) the final readings for a normal switch will be involved. If so, they've got over half a million accounts to review!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards.
