If you are still paying your DD to Avro (i.e. their administrators) I would suggest you cancel that as soon as possible to set up a new one with Octopus. Ofgem's advice assumes that transfers take a relatively short time but that is simply not the case at this stage.J_forest said:. . . They also asked me setting up another direct debit but I did not want to. I still pay in Avro every month as advised by Ofgen and I have added extra fund on Octopus account just case. I am going to ring them on Monday or Tuesday.

One of the representatives from Octopus says he is handling my case. I will wait for what he would say. My DD is the beginning of each month.Consumerist said:

Wait if you wish, but the advice from Ofgem is way out of date at this point and you would be much better advised to cease those payments and set up the DD with Octopus.J_forest said:

Thanks for the message. I have just checked my account and it looks that Octopus has taken over Avro because its name now is Octopus Originator ID: 505645. My transactions shows Avro took 4 months payment from September to December last year, then stopped - I did not do anything.MWT said:

I am thinking to switch to another supplier because the night rate of Octopus is not so good. I have made some one-off payments to Octopus's account. Along with the money taken from Avro the total should cover the usage from the 17th September up to the end of this March.
Do you know any variable tariffs besides British Gas, EDF, Octopus? Thanks again!

Switched to Avro from Scottish Power and it went bust during the transfer stage. Not paid anything to octopus or had any communication from them apart from the generic messages on the website. Have been providing monthly reading on their app and will probably end up with a large bill. Hope its sorted soon.0

I don't understand why or how you are paying Avro. The advice was to keep DDs running but Avro took their last DD from me back in November.J_forest said:
Me too. Contacted them for information but they just muddled up things. They also asked me setting up another direct debit but I did not want to. We were due to switch to Avro just before they went bust. I have had a final bill up to 29th Sept from igloo and the credit refund from Eon.
Avro took two direct debits, the £178 credit never showed up on their website. I have send Octopus my meter readings every month and made a payment; I have no idea if this close to my actual usage or a mile off.
Octopus haven't replied to my email on 2nd march. The last email from them was on 11th Jan thanking me for my patience.
Has anyone any idea what's happening or how many of us are in the same position?
 Thank you

Same position, switched from BG but Avro went bust during the transfer. Have provided Octopus with the final bill from BG but still nothing set up from Octopus, Avro managed to take three payments before they stopped which are still sitting in my Avro account. Have tried several times contacting Octopus but get back the same message each time saying once the administrators issue my final bill everything will be moved to them, only prob is there is no final bill to issue from Avro as they never took over the supply!sneaky said:Switched to Avro from Scottish Power and it went bust during the transfer stage. ... but they did take payments from you so there will be a bill, even if it only shows a credit for the payments taken...TonyE78 said:

Did a bit of a comparison between capped tariff and fixed to see if it's worth it, so far would only be worth it if the prices rose around 85% in October. The standing charge figures are not 100% accurate as no clue how they would change, so I kept them the same.

My understanding is that Octopus will not issue a statement until it has received a final bill from the previous supplier. Since the supply was in mid-switch when Avro went into administration, it seems likely Octopus is having to deal with two former suppliers to get things sorted out.MWT said:
