@beeniecarol  I don't think my spreadsheet workings would help you as I suspect I do things oddly - plus the tariff varies a little by region.  But if you want to post meter readings and tariff, I'm sure we can work some costs out for you.
Thank you - is is possible to post a screen shot or attach a file with my tariff & meter readings?

apologies for the noob question, can't find how to do it :(

    Carol
    Sorry; just spotted it   :#

Can't attach the file so have included a screen shot below.  Hope its simple to follow.

I'll have a go at reworking it to include a change of tariff from 2nd April.

    Thank you

    Carol

You seem to have figured it out just fine.  Were you wanting us to check your figures/thinking?  I've just put a couple of months worth of your usage figures into my own spreadsheet calculator and come within a pound of you for each month I checked.  I work differently, but the result was close enough.

The only thing I didn't see was an opening balance for the account - because whatever that is needs adding to the money in/out calculation for your current balance.  Had you perhaps just moved to Avro around the time they went bust, so you didn't yet have a balance with them?  And why wasn't there a payment in December?  Was that perhaps the gap between making payments to Avro and starting new ones with Octopus?

If you have a rough idea what your closing reading should have been when Avro failed you can work out what you owe, if you are unsure how to do that then just post the readings here and others will help...

    21st September 2021 : elec 005524.333 kWh, gas 000890.600 m3

    9th March 2022 : elec 010368.746 kwh, gas 002380.089 m3

    North Bristol

    Thank you for your help.

I've put your numbers in my own spreadsheet calculator - just as an additional plausibility check (I do this a lot - does this number look right) - and I get £1727.31 - but I'm in the north west and your tariff rate in Bristol will be a little higher - so that would ring true with @QrizB - which I didn't look at until I'd done my own.  My m3/kWh worked out at x11.33, using the calorific value of 39.9 from my last bill.

I came up with a balance over the period 03/10/21 - 02/03/22 of £43.04 debit (using a CV of 39.4).
I tired several times to tabulate my working but, for some reason, couldn't get it to format properly using the CODE: format.
In any event, your working seems close enough to get a good idea of your situation at the moment.
    Edit
    [CODE:]
    Gas used:       481m³ x 1.02264 x 39.4 / 3.6 = 5,383.46 kWh @ 3.94p/kWh = £212.11
    Gas SC:         150 days @ 26.11p/day        = £39.17

    Elec used:      1154 kWh @ 19.89p/kWh     = £229.53
                           150 days @ 26.82p/day        = £ 40.23

    Total Charges:              £521.04
    Total Payments:         - £478.00
                                          -----------
                                          £ 43.04 DR
    [/CODE:]

Well, not perfect but hopefully clear enough.

@Consumerist beat me to it, but I went back and did the same for you @beeniecarol whilst I had your screengrab still open and I just took the totals of the fuels used as a gross figure for each fuel for 150 days and got within 21p of your total spent.

Big thank you to everyone for looking at my figures. I feel happier now I understand I'm in the right ball park rather than just guessing.

I will change the spreadsheet to reflect the changing tariffs coming in April.

    Regards

Does anyone have experience as to what level of debt Octopus will tolerate before demanding a top-up?
Don't know if this will help at all but....

On xfer from Avro we were £169.91 in credit. I had cancelled Avro DD (£109pm) after they went bust. By the time Octopus issued our 1st bill and took 1st DD, we were £34.33 in debit. Due to a mismatch in timing of my readings & DD date, this climbed on 6 Feb to £275.91 for a few days, but I had already increased DD from £150 to £200pm.

At 6 March we're £39.48 in debit. Unless we have a very cold spell, I expect this to disappear by 6 April.
I will leave DD at £200pm until I see impact of April price cap

At no point have Octopus contacted me to request top up.
I took regular readings and calculated my usage, when the account was set up and the first DD was taken, but no credit refunded, I made an additional payment to Octopus of £40 to cover the electric and gas used. The first Octopus bill was for £90 and with the £40 additional payment it just covered the bill. Two days later the credit was added to my account, as I am now nearly £300 in credit it will be a while until I increase my DD amount to cover the April increase.
Someone please tell me what money is

Is anyone who was an Avro customer still waiting for their final bill so their outstanding credit can be released please? I wasn't how long you have to wait before you can make a complaint and whom you should contact to do this please?

Ofgem's price cap is £0.28 on electricity with standing charge £0.45. Does anyone know the new flexible rate of Eon and Octopus from April 2022? Ideally you have the details of Economic 7.   Thanks.
I don't know E.ON's new rates but they're likely to be similar to EDF here or Octopus here.
    Thanks.

Octopus replied to my message two days later. However they still have not sorted the bills and the person handled my email accidently changed my tariff to the April prices. All a sudden my display showed more than £5 after changing the car over night. I tried to ring them on Saturday but they don't work weekends. Very frustrated...

I'm one of the customers still waiting for the transfer from Avro to Octopus and starting to get very frustrated now.

We were due to switch to Avro just before they went bust. I have had a final bill up to 29th Sept from igloo and the credit refund from Eon.

Avro took two direct debits, the £178 credit never showed up on their website. I have send Octopus my meter readings every month and made a payment; I have no idea if this close to my actual usage or a mile off.

Octopus haven't replied to my email on 2nd march.   The last email from them was on 11th Jan thanking me for my patience.

Has anyone any idea what's happening or how many of us are in the same position?

    Thank you

    Carol
Me too. Contacted them for information but they just muddled up things. They also asked me setting  up another direct debit but I did not want to. I still pay in Avro every month as advised by Ofgen and I have added extra fund on Octopus account just case. I am going to ring them on Monday or Tuesday.
