Mine has been accepting and showing my meter readings for months, but no sign of any bills or direct debits being taken.  Hey ho.
Oh, maybe I'm not as close to the end of my journey as I thought then.  :D

The best way to check your current progress is to look at the meter readings page in your Octopus account. Until recently I had a "no properties" message, but now it is showing both meters accepting readings.

At least I am on the right track now, hopefully the Avro credit transfer and first bill will be not too far off.

Same here. I've stopped making voluntary payments, because Octopus haven't taken the agreed DD payments. Once I get a bill I'll pay what I owe to bring the acct up to date.

I'm one of the customers still waiting for the transfer from Avro to Octopus and starting to get very frustrated now.

We were due to switch to Avro just before they went bust. I have had a final bill up to 29th Sept from igloo and the credit refund from Eon.

Has anyone any idea what's happening or how many of us are in the same position?
We're also in the same boat - no DD taken and haven't paid for gas or electricity since last September. With all the recent news we're frightened we'll be presented with a huge bill.
When something similar happened with my internet, PlusNet had to give us most of the unpaid months for free. I wonder if there are similar laws for utilities?

The good news is that Octopus have just announced today that "From April 2, our prices will be £50 below the cap for existing Flexible Octopus customers" - see link below

Why we are increasing prices for some customers | Octopus Energy
I think those of us from Avro are on the Flexible Avro so that promise may not apply to us.

There's no sign of an April '22 Flexible Avro yet, is there?  I suspect that we'll be on the Flexible Octopus, £50 below the cap - whatever it is eventually called.
Using the Flexible Octopus figures as of 2nd April 2022, one thing seems to be clear.  As the percentage increases on the four factors are quite different, a cap that's up 54% doesn't mean that our bills will rise by 54%.  Here it is up 63% on a like-for-like number of units for each fuel.
I haven't seen this issue mentioned before.  Am I just out of touch?

It's going to be difficult to work out an annual cost from April when we don't know what we'll be paying when the cap changes again in October and beyond. In any event, for the foreseeable future there doesn't seem much point in switching and we'll just have to swallow the expense as it arises. At least we'll have a small respite during the Summer months whilst consumption is lower.
I can only assume, more generally, that suppliers will initially set DDs on the basis of a year at the April capped rate and wait for October's bombshell when it arrives.

True.  And we don't even know if further cap adjustments will be on a six-monthly basis.
Just to put it in context, though, it only takes a further rise of 20% here to mean that my energy bills will exceed my (full) state pension.

I wonder how long it will be before energy bills become most people's largest monthly bill i.e. more than the mortgage/rent.

It comes up a couple of times a day on the forum, usually with someone indignantly posting "The cap is rising by 54% but my bill is going up X%, EnergyCo is ripping me off!".

    Hi there Carol,

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

I have had a look at your account and it looks like we are still waiting for Avro to issue your final bill.

Looking at the national data base, I can see that your provider before Avro was Igloo. I am wondering whether you have a final bill issued by Igloo?

One of the reasons that this migration can be taking a long time is that the Avro administrators are struggling to find a closing reading - closing for Avro, opening for Octopus. This means that Avro doesn't know where to bill to and we don't know where to begin billing. If you have your final bill from Igloo, it will have on it the final readings which were in the period when Avro also went bankrupt. If you do have this Igloo final bill, please follow the below instructions:

Please fill out the below form. Before you do, please replace the stars (***) with your Avro account number eg: AVR12345.

Octopus sent me a link but this forum won’t let me post it for your information.

I have sent Octopus my final Igloo bill and meter readings previously, this is so frustrating.  I have submitted my final readings again this morning.  This form didn't ask about the DD's Avro took just before and after they stopped trading.

Hope this helps somebody else on here.

I know this doesn't answer your question about what's happening, but if you are at least taking regular readings and you know your tariff - just work out what you've used (we can help with that if you don't know how to) and keep on top of it yourself on paper, so you know where you're at, which saves on nasty surprises.  If you know what your closing/opening readings were and what you've paid to date, you can at least track your spending, so that when you do get a bill, you'll know if it's right.
I have all my meter readings so could try and work out what I owe.  To save me re-inventing the wheel does anyone have a spreadsheet template they are willing to share?

    Thank you

    Carol
