Ive been contacted my the other parties insurance who has admitted liability (huge relief) but asked if I wanted to cancel the claim with my own insurers and go thru theirs. If I agree Ill be paid £200 as a thank you.

I dont know that I do, maybe if it was purely a repair job but my car is a write off. I have concerns about how much my own insurers will pay out given the car is almost 20 and had under 2 weeks left on the MOT (was due to go in today) without putting this in the hands of another party. I said Id think about it to give me some breathing space but I dont think Im going to go for it.

Checking the bank account last night, I spotted that our breakfast out had cost nearly £33! Queried it with Mr S because a full English was £11.50 including toast, and a pot of tea each was £2.80. Meaning our meal should have come in at under £29. The sauces were a seperate charge (don't know how much) and he ordered brown that I dislike so had ketchup. He also thought hed tipped. This makes no sense because he went to the counter and ordered and paid, I suspect a service charge has been applied for our plates to be brought over. Lovely food but don't think Ill return.

This morning HMRC has paid £65.60 into my account. Mr S had told me 2 differing amounts (!) cos the email had gone to him which must be how we set up the Gateway account a few years ago when checking my NI record.

Anyway I have moved this money to go with the little bit we had over from last month's wages into the alternative universe account and then had enough to put into jabberwocky £126, which means the next element of this which was £130 has been paid back. This was for some legal fees we once incurred. We hadn't done anything  wrong - lol, just some red tape fees.

This brings that pot to £200.

Parents visited Nan and Mum reiterated that they couldn't continue at home and was told that it was going to an 'enablement department' that they work with where it would be up to them (enablement) what happened but parents would need  to speak to them. Will visit parents later and say that they need to be firm and keep to No. Nan needs assessing of her capabilities before a long term decision is made and whatever that is parents shouldn't become default carers.

In an attempt to return some normality to our lives. Ive invited parents to tea. I took mince out yesterday to defrost and though there's not a huge amount if I make it a jacket potato filling with loads of added veg, think I can make it stretch. We will be watching DD in her recent Shakespeare production as weve been sent the link but its only available for 24 hours due to rules in the country it originated in. I spoke to Mum this morning to invite which she was really happy to accept. She mentioned Dad still not being right and saying one thing then contradicting himself.

So for me that means tidying up our downstairs plus bathroom. Its something I think I need to do  not just about  the place looking  better but doing something that I have control over.

Based on conversations from Nan yesterday and relative who visited today, its looking likely that Nan is going to be discharged to her own home possibly at the weekend. Without her being at a residential assessment place first, without the promised meeting with parents. Beggars belief! Im on the brink of ringing adult social services over it  all and have said when  the first incident occurs after discharge I will be doing so!

Dad is clearly unwell and has a Drs appt later this week concerning his heart.

  • Did the visiting relatives hear the discharge news from your nan or from medical professionals? If it’s the latter, I would definitely contact social services.

Nan I believe. I asked parents that question. They visited yesterday and Nan was talking in terms of needing shopping getting in and how her neighbour that cleans for her is going to call in more and help (neighbour/cleaner has visited in hospital).

Mum is suspicious its all true and staff have believed that Nan can manage. Im not sure but Nan can give drama student daughter a run for her money with convincibility.

Think the situation will need to be assessed once parents have visited tomorrow and queried whats happened to this meeting they were told theyd have!

Hi. Thank you. No, she doesnt. This is the 3rd consecutive winter she has been hospitalised following a fall/confusion. The previous twice she's been discharged home twice with carers put in, calling twice a day.  1st time carers called  for 1.5 days (3 visits) then stopped coming saying they werent needed. 2nd time (admitted Dec 24, discharged Jan 25) again home with carers visiting twice a day. That lasted around 7-10 days. My understanding until very recently was theyd just stopped coming like the previous ones had. Ive since been told that Nan had locked them out of the house and wouldn't allow them.in and was unpleasant to them. If Id known this at the time I would have said to parents that they sought help then instead of picking up the pieces all this year with the consequence we now have.

Parents are visiting as we speak so am awaiting an update. I have also remembered thst Dads GP that he is seeing tomorrow about his heart is also Nans GP. Im going to see if Mum will accompany him into the appointment and fetch up Nan stress see if they have any suggestions/guidance.
