Fingers crossed for the next one  - as for the one that got away, it just wasn’t for you, for whatever reason. Hope the feedback is useful though.

Just caught up. Miami trip sounds fab. Sorry you didn't get the latest interview. I went through a period like that once. On the way to the one that I got that broke to pattern - I wrote for myself all the reasons the job would be right for me. It helped

Yes loved Miami (and especially it being hotel and some meals and drinks included). Was nice to spend time with DD. We did lunch at the Versace mansion one day.  We did the set lunch menu as cheaper!

An hour after my phone call saying I hadn't been successful, I received an email from another agency asking if I was interested in another job. I rang back the following morning and hadn't realised it was the same person who got me a little work at the beginning of this thread, when we'd just taken DD to Scotland. He has put me forward for a job, I've had an interview and should hear next week. It's only temp either 6 or 12 weeks and I'm 50/50 on whether it will come off or not. Agency bloke did ask me if I needed any help, so I told him about the 1 point off interview and ran him through my feedback and he's been able to identify where I lost marks, I'd missed something which as he said 80% of the time wouldn't have mattered. I know now though and won't make that mistake again.

DS had his last day of Uni on Friday. End of an era, he's been there 4 years (poor sixth form results meant foundation year first - though ironically a few months ago he discovered an unread email from a Uni that didn't offer foundation year offering him unconditional into yr1 if he put them as first choice. If he'd seen it and opted for it, his life would now be different as he's met his fiancée at his Uni, he'd have spent half of his degree doing it online due to pandemic and would have probably commuted from home for at least some of it, instead of always living away - Wow, strange how the smallest things can shape your life.

Daughter has a bit of a situation like that going on, she hadn't sent the email saying she can't work one day next week so has been put down for potential cover. If called in she can't do her last audition (also a year's course) so will be taking the offer on the table. If not called in to work she'll audition and see what happens. In the hands of fate!

Thanks. I just wish I'd seen the email yesterday afternoon telling me this. Agency bloke normally rings/texts/ whatsapps  not just emails but not this time. We went on a dummy run last night thinking I'd not heard to work out the best route last night (n petrol costs as went in hubby's company car, but a waste on our time)

I think from next week I'm going to do a more concentrated effort on finding work.

DD hasn't been called in today, so is available to do her last audition. I'm pleased she already has an offer on the table rather than everything hinges on this. If successful she has a choice to make and if not, then it's meant to be and also means she hasn't let a drama school down last minute. One of the places she had a Zoom audition at were totally unreasonable when she explained about a clash with her work (and she works as an actor at a tourist attraction - you'd think an admissions panel at a drama school would be more understanding of not letting a paid live audience down at the last minute!) and she ended up not being able to do it.

DD got an offer from the audition the other day despite her reckoning 'it was the worst one ever!'. This is also a year's fully funded. In the drama school world there's only3 fully funded 1 year courses (there's a 4th mostly funded) , and the 3rd she auditioned for last year and said it wasn't for her. It's only a shame she's not been offered degree anywhere. I'd have snapped their hands off for this offer last year, as it is she doesn't know which to take, one is in Essex, the other Surrey. She's seen neither place and has to be decided on UCAS with a deposit paid within the next 7-10 days

We went on 2 whirlwind over night stops to both places this past week. Had to use savings but no way round it, she had to have a decision by this weekend. She disliked one place, so is going for the other. That has a shorter academic year so her student loan will last her longer too. She's at work throughout the bank hol, said it was so busy yesterday with 500 booked in plus walk ins and only 5 mins flow between her shows.

DS and fiancee are on their way here. They are looking to move away from their student digs soon and start job hunting. Girlfriend's parents have more space for them. We have the better transport links for looking for work. Now we know that DD has an outcome for Autumn it will be easier if they do  end up staying with us.
