Thanks. She's excited. I'm a nervous wreck though, just worrying about it. I know this is to do with previous new beginnings she's had and what's happened.

We did a sort out of her wardrobe yesterday and I'm glad she was prepared to part with a lot of it. I was wondering how we were going to fit the contents of her student digs back into her bedroom! She intends trying to sell most of it and buying the clothing she needs with anything she makes.

Tomorrow is daughter's 19th birthday. She's spent the previous 2 birthdays under lockdown restrictions and the 2 prior to that ill and/or sharing it with Mother's day. We go back to her 14th the last time she had a 'full' celebration. So a couple of months ago  we thought a little mini trip with her friend would be nice to do and so booked her on a mini cruise to Amsterdam on P & O ferries  - honestly you couldn't make this up!

It seems so strange that at the beginning of this month I was still working f-time and daughter at drama school and now both have finished. I had to adjust her presents once I lost my job. Thankfully I already had several items in. She is still training for  her tourist attraction job, finding it tougher than she anticipated but enjoying it. I'm missing my wages but very grateful for the extra time it's given me to do things around the house. A renewal came for AA cover yesterday, but have decided to cancel it whilst I'm not working as the car isn't used that much.

Thanks for the suggestion of Vinted. Me and DH are hoping to go to Scotland soon and empty most of DD's room and then she can sort out exactly what she's keeping and selling. She has the tenancy till mid July because it was the only thing we could find in a hurry, but most of her college mates have gone now so if she returns at all now it will only be occasionally between now and then.

Merciful Gods!  I hope she has a good birthday regardless.  Have you started the refund process? Love Humdinger xx

Cheers. No. DH messaged them earlier today for confirmation is wasn't going (one ship is sailing) and they came back saying passengers were told by email on the 29th! We never received anything! He's going to look into it tomorrow as he can't remember how he paid - fingers crossed it was by credit card! I have booked her and her mate on a twilight spa tomorrow evening instead. Taken out of savings to pay for it, so hopefully we'll be reimbursed from the ferries which will mostly cover the cost.

DD and friend went to an evening spa instead. They liked it but are probably a bit too young to have appreciated it. If I'd managed to get them into the local one that included treatment/s in the price (and was cheaper!) think they'd have preferred that but it was full. The ferry company has started the refund process.

Myself and DH went to Scotland and packed up the huge majority of DD's belongings. We just left enough for her to be able to go back for a night or two if she wished plus anything too bulky to load. All belongings brought back are now in our conservatory waiting to be 'absorbed' into our house. So far the food and toiletries have been put away.

DD has also recently gone onto a couple of dates but they haven't worked out. One she didn't 'click' with and the other despite spending hours with her the previous evening and saying he'd booked them for a meal the following day and would pick her up, she discovered a few hours prior that he'd blocked her???!!! We were on our way to Scotland when she told me. I'm not impressed, she had only just gained the confidence to start going out again after what happened with ex and it's me that picks up the pieces from what others do to her.

On a more positive note, she spent her first day yesterday working as a professional actor. Was to be a day where she was shadowed, but after so long they left her as she was managing fine . I believe she's missed her payday cut off though due to an 'admin error' (both parties to blame!).

Nothing else to report on the money front. Am watching the electricity used as are most of the country I'd think. I want DD settled into a routine of when she starts/finishes work as she commutes before I look for something for myself.

Not a great deal to report on debt busting. It's come to a standstill at the minute. Trying to make sure we don't run up too much in energy costs. I am mightily relieved we only have 10 mortgage payments left

DD *might* be paid today (depends whether they accepted her late details). If she is that will be a help as she can pay her own way for personal spends. Her ex is now going out with one of her (now former) best friends, from her drama that she's been mates with since 11 and she knows what lies he told about DD. She's heart-broken but about the friend not him. I am wondering what new lows he can stoop to next. A couple of my friends have made the comment that she's had a lucky escape from him. I agree I feel an idiot myself by being taken in and charmed by him.
