I guess it's taking that poor soul longer than anticipated as a DD was taken today by the post office.

We could have a sweepstake on when the very last PO DD gets taken.

I'm going with 2025, but haven't narrowed it down to a month yet.

Today I attempted to cancel the direct debits in post office online. Received the tick for success; great so log out.
I logged back in just to check and the direct debits are back live.

I suspect it's fairly normal - with many banks etc - for a DD to still appear listed 'live' only hours after being cancelled.

Give 'em 24 hours and a weekday at least!

If you want to be sure the DD is cancelled, do it from the bank not the post office.

Checked Post Office Savings this pm after cancel of direct debits on Post Office online.
Direct Debits no longer available. So maybe the problem is resolved.
    Will see next week!

The loss of the direct debit functionality was communicated in advance, but was the loss of making deposits by debit card?

If I'm honest this is the bit I was using to keep a Halifax Reward account going

Add the card to PayPal and make a £500 Friend's and Family payment to, say, your spouse. That works 😎
