So, we did the equivalent of exchange yesterday!!!!! FINALLY!!!!! The only thing that will stop us physically completing now is covid as there is a covid clause in the document. But we are hoping it won't get used. We NEED to be out of here!
As a result, spent money last night(!). £2 on way into work on 8 kitkat chunkys, 4 for work supplies and brought 4 home (on offer). Then got us a Charlie Bighams lasanga, garlic bread, some Gu puddings as a celebratory treat meal and also bought 24 loo rolls and 2 tins of sweetcorn needed for the kids (which they rarely have in) so £23.87. And we had a bottle of wine from stores. Felt a bit numb in a way - I think because it has been such a long slog to get to this point and I still don't quite believe it will all finalise and we just want OUT of this horrid flat but it's still 2 weeks which just feels a lifetime with the threat of covid scuppering matters hanging over us. But, positives are, they are locked in to sell to us!
So, on we go!
Sorted the bills to a degree with landladys son in law yesterday - 1160 (for gas/water but which also included some other charges mentioned on the lease we hadn't realised). Some have been estimated and they will get final bills and work it out later, but at least we are leaving here having paid something. They owe us 2k deposit so on reflection we should have just said take from that but we didn't and took it from our bills account. Bills account now down to 1600 and electricity for here to go (as that's the only utility in our names) but we do pay 70 a month by DD so hoping it won't be tooooo bad. We may well need to fill the oil tank in the new house so glad we have some in the war chest for that.
Didn't have to pay for buildings cover yet but should get that today and will put on cc'd and pay off in full from savings as we don't usually put away in the bills account for this because it never used to be so much, but going forward, we are going to. They want 6% on top to pay monthly by DD so we are going to pay it on the card (and get points) then just pay it out of savings.
Also got to pay movers by end of week so same with that.
We had about 2 hours sleep last night as both kids were up in varying degrees between 12-4 and then again from 0540. So shattered. Will stay in this morning as DC2 will def need a long sleep and will take to MIL after lunch for a play. After today, only 1 more week of me being off on my own with them in this flat as MIL having them next Tues and Thurs so we can move and then it should be SO much easier in the house as plenty of space and we can do painting etc at the TABLE!!!!!
DH's promotion might be to a higher level than we thought. He had previously said he didn't want this but now seems to have changed his mind! Wish they would let us know when this might be!!!6 -
Hooray! So pleased (and relieved) for you.3
