Yes they took mine on the 20th & sent an email sasying they were cancelling on the 27th. Nothing like an extra bite at the cherry. I'm just grateful that my finances are not as tight as so many peoples are.

Started a switch to Octopus on 26th Sept. On 27th received an email from BG saying 'Thanks for choosing Us. (Umm NO!) Heres your contract' which is actually the sales order. Today BG email, asking that 'I don't contact them yet' as over the next two weeks they are transferring my details over from my previous supplier and setting up my new account.
Octopus advise my application with them will begin on 13th October which I'm hoping is the case before BG get their hands
on my account. I thought it prudent to contact BG and tell them what I've done and not block the switch but cannot find the Live Chat activated on their website, despite them saying I can contact them this way.
Has anyone had issues trying to get onto live chat with BG ? If you have contacted them to say you've a switch in progress with another supplier what was the response?0 -
This afternoon, I have received an email from Peoples Energy mentioning that I had been switched automatically to British Gas, even though I moved from Peoples Energy to what was the really good EoN Next fixed deal at the start of June 2021.I hope that there isn't going to be an attempt to create an account with British Gas in my name or any attempt to cancel my EoN Next account.Anyone else seen anything similar?0

Today I received an email from british gas to put my readings on the peoples energy website. Thats an hour of my life I won't get back. Not surprising with over half a million people trying to do it. They also said to do a screen shot of the balance on the account, that was not possible but I'll try around midnight. I wonder if it occurred to them that it might not be a good idea to send out 580,000 emails all on the same day. I do hope british gas's billing systems have improved since I was last with them, but talking to a friend last night it would seem not.

I've had an email from people's energy today to say I've been moved over to British gas and I need to submit final readings for a final bill, I haven't been with people's energy since February! I really hope it isn't a fight to prove I'm not with them and don't need to pay a final bill.
I was with igloo so will still be changing supplier.LBM in April 17 - Starting card debt £33554
Mortgage@1 June 18 - £76350
Total debt @june 18 £102311
Debt Jan 25 £8282
Mortgage £51215. Total debt now £594970 -
Yesterday I also got an email from PE regarding 'my new supplier BG' and to supply a meter reading for the final bill.
BG also asked I submit a reading to PE and a further one to them, at a later date, when the account is set up. I've already cancelled my DD when I applied to Octopus.
On the 27th I emailed Octopus to tell them BG have informed me they will be taking over my account and asked if there was some sort of block they could put on the switch. The response I got was they could see I was due a supply on 13th Oct and that this should still go through correctly but if it doesn't, you will receive an email with an explanation and we can look into fixing this for you. No mention about blocking the switch.
Doesn't in-still much confidence this is going to go through smoothly to my preferred supplier.0 -
I moved from People's energy to Octopus back in July, and yesterday I received what seems to be the standard email from PE saying I had been moved to British Gas. I did look at the FAQs accessible through a link in the email, and it appears if you have already switched supplier you don't need to do anything:
"7. What happens if I have already switched supplier? If you have already switched supplier, you do not need to do anything. People’s Energy (Supply) Limited in administration will be in touch regarding any outstanding amounts owed in the form of a final bill. If your account is paid up to the date of your departure, you will not need to take any further action."I confess I don't have a great deal of confidence in PE's organisation, so I'll continue to monitor my emails carefully to make sure British Gas don't try to switch me to them!0 -

Doesn't in-still much confidence this is going to go through smoothly to my preferred supplier. This is always the problem when you switch either intentionally or accidentally during the SoLR process. The bulk transfer that takes place as a result of appointing the SoLR will inevitably sweep up some who were trying to move elsewhere which is why it is always recommended to wait until the SoLR transfer has taken place before initiating a switch elsewhere. There isn't anything your preferred supplier can do to block it either, so even if your switch completes you can still get pulled back to the SoLR a few days later.

I left my direct debit in place with people energy as advised I didn’t have to cancel it. On the 1st October they took normal payment and I also received an email from them on the same day saying direct debit had been cancelled. I called my bank who suggested calling British Gas but they won’t talk to me as I have no official account set up. Does anyone have any ideas where I could find out where this money has gone?0

It took a couple of days for it to show on my live balance though, so don't panic if it doesn't chow straightaway.
