why are PE so taking money daily?
They always have (they correct when they have readings).  I am entering my readings daily from today due to their extremely inflated without cause DDs recently.  I don't trust any of them to get it right & certainly not British Gas, who I had a bad experience with some years ago.  Leopards tend not to change their spots!

  • Just had the email from BG saying they have taken over my account from the 19th Sept?

So, I have now jumped and signed up to a two-year fix with Sainsburys. That's about an extra £10 a month.

Not sure if it will go through smoothly but it’s done now so let’s wait and see.

I have left my DD in place with PE for the time being, I only have £16 credit and will owe money at some point.

I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
    There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.

I got the email from BG yesterday.

Today, PE emailed asking for a meter reading.  My live billing is now showing a credit of around £170.

I'm not planning on switching as I'm moving within weeks.  Getting the credit back is slightly worrying as I will not be with BG after the move.
  • As my previous post, yesterday I started a switch to Sainsbury’s (hope it goes through).

Today out of curiosity I put the same info into Sainsbury’s website and discovered for the same deal the price has gone up £160 a year over night.

  • Just had two interesting emails from PE.

First one is acknowledging my request to move to Sainsbury’s and says,

“We'd love you to give us another chance”

We've just heard that you're on the move. Another supplier has asked us to switch your energy supply to them.

I know it’s likely to be just an automated response but amusing all the same.

The second email is more worrying.

    It just says,

Your subscription of £44.15 on the 26th of each month to People's Energy (Supply) Limited has been cancelled.

No further payments will be charged under this subscription.

So, despite me owing PE a small amount of cash for the past month, they have stopped my DD.

I had kept the DD in place so no extra charges are put on my bill for not having one.

Anyone else come up against this?

It may just mean they've set the amount to zero, but the DD details are still in place so that they can settle the final bill. Which of course they won't do as the SoLR will, but it's probably just their automated system doing its stuff.
That's what happened when I left one supplier (albeit they hadn't ceased trading) for another.

  • If it’s of interest to anyone,

Lots of talk about not being able to switch whilst waiting for bust energy co to transfer accounts to SoLR.

I applied to move away from PE on the 20th Sept after it was announced they had gone under.

To day had email from Sainsbury’s who I appointed to take over my account, saying transfer had been approved and would start on 7th Oct.

    So hopeful it will happen.

  • This this is what Octopus and EDF are now telling their failed supplier customers:

If you started to switch to, or away from Avro, more than 7 days ago, the switch will continue uninterrupted. If it was less than 7 days ago, the supplier you are moving from, or moving to, may be able to cancel the switch if you prefer.

I requested a switch to People's Energy last week. I've cancelled my direct debit, but curious to know whether the switch will go ahead or whether I will stay with my existing supplier by default now PE have gone bust?
You're still within the 14 day cooling off period so I would be proactive and contact your current supplier and cancel the switch.  That way you've got control rather than facing some uncertainty as to what will happen.

Then you can decide whether to stay with current provider or look around for another (hopefully more stable) one that offers you a better tariff
Sadly I couldn't do this either as I was with Green who have also gone bust! Now I don't know if I'm transferring to British Gas or Shell as I don't know exactly who I was classed as being with at the time the decisions were made by Ofgem. Will have to wait and see...

Peoples Energy took my DD this month and then sent me an email the day after to say they had cancelled my DD.
