Another one bites the dust. Symbio is next for sure.
Dont say that.  I am with Symbio for my electricity.

What is everyone doing as regards future supply.  Is it best to sit tight and see what is offered or is it best to apply to move? Utility Point seem to want us to sit tight at the moment.  But I think I might be better looking around now for a new provider.
OGFEM advise to stay put and I will be guided by them. Ok have seen a very competitive variable rate from another utility but I will not be doing anything at the moment.
  • I'm currently in the process of moving house, Utility Point supply the house I'm moving from. Anyone know how this will affect me getting my credit back?

Your credit is protected but may take a while to be refunded.

I too will be following Ofgem's advice.  I don't think it's wise to start a switch at least until you have received an email from the designated supplier - but even this won't confirm that you've actually switched to them yet, possibly hindering any switches you might choose to make.
Right now I am more worried about getting my refund from Green, as they still have not received reads from Utility Point to close the Green account.  As I have some credit with Green, I'm worried that they could also go bust as they are a small company.
  • I downloaded my latest bill yesterday along with screen shot of meter readings
  • I have changed my mind about cancelling the UP DD after looking at their T&Cs

If I am reading it correctly they say they will charge £15 per missed DD & switch you over to their standard variable rate

So I am going to keep paying the DD & just keep a manual record of my balance if the website login is down permanently

Under normal conditions I can understand it by these are not. They have gone out of business. In my case I am over a £100.00 in credit. If I keep the dd going  this will just build up a bigger credit with them. They can  easily take out any outstanding amounts  from the amount they owe me.

    From Which

Should I cancel my direct debit?

Ofgem says that you can cancel your direct debit if you want to.

If you are in credit the energy supplier should not take any direct debit payments from you.

If you are in debt and owe money to the energy supplier then any direct debit payments will be taken as normal. You will be able to set up a new direct debit with the new supplier when they contact you.

It will also help you set up your new account and explain how it will arrange your direct debit payments.

    unquote.

I phoned consumer direct.  They are going to send an email to Neon Reef.  I want my refund.  Yes sorry to hear about jobs lost, but I come first.
  • Has everyone on UP been sent an email? I haven’t received one from UP, just from Look After My Bills, the switching service I used to sign up with them. I hope this doesn’t mean that I’ll have trouble with the new supplier contacting me, or with getting my credit refunded.
