..... "higher for 6 months, lower for 6 months" schemes).
Think I read NR are doing that now, yes? UP = NR  (same directors, same locations, presumably same staff)

I'm not sure quite what you are trying to imply. and I'm sure you will try and wriggle out of it as you tried (and failed) with your incorrect assertion you made previously about NR .

But this matter has already been discussed in this thread, and was debunked.
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/78606468/#Comment_78606468

But I'm more than happy to give you the whole nine yards (within the site rules) as you brought it up again.

Yes there is an "association" between the two companies. I don't think you can go much further than that.

Yes, both suppliers operate a 6up 6 down pricing on their tariffs. But they have different tariffs
    - Furthermore, UP supplied electricty and/or gas. NR supplies electricity only.
    - they do share similar billing software.

Yes they have a common registered office address. There were at least 50 companies registered to that same address the last time I looked. It's a solicitors office.

The two companies have 2 common directors. UP also has 2 more directors who are not directors of NR. NR has a 1 more director who is not a director of UP

The two companies have different CEOs

Shareholdings. - The 2 common directors owned all the shares in UP, with the CEO owning over 50% so having overall control.
The same 2 directors each own an equal share in NR, but the CEO also has a smaller holding.
Therefore, no one has overall control of NR.

No, the 2 companies do not share the same location., The 2 suppliers are both based in Poole, but about 2.5 miles apart from each other. (neither operate from their registered office address which is about 5 miles away)
    - therefore I have no idea why you suggest they may have the same staff.

The 2 companies have different company numbers

The 2 companies have different VAT numbers

The 2 companies have different energy supply licences

They are different legal entities, as the post I linked to above correctly stated

  • Looks like they've taken their customer portal down already, so I can't login and see any bills or info. Been a bit slack and haven't downloaded a PDF bill in about 6 months. I was in credit then (by a modest amount, not hundreds). But I use very little in the summer (my boiler doesn't get used from April to Oct/Nov, and I'm away quite a bit too), so I should be in a decent amount of credit by now, just no idea how much.

Is there any chance of the website coming back on, or a way to retrieve bills/statements? Or am I going to try and estimate it for myself?

Sadly I did not download a statement for few months but as a guess they might owe me around £200. I joined UP in Dec. 2020 and to be fair never had a problem. What I want to know is..If I cancel the DD, will that affect any possible refund? Also, according to Ofgem, the SOLR will pay any credit owed by UP but what about if I do not like their tarrif and decide to move to another supplier? Who will pay me the credit owed by UP..the SOLR or my chosen supplier?

I have cancelled my DD. Ofgem say we may. The SOLR will pay any credit even after we've moved on but they will likely take a long time to do so.

I am sure I am in credit but I have never downloaded a statement either. I have cancelled my DD.  Just hoping the balance gets transferred to the new provider.

If you decide not to stay with the SoLR then you will still get a Final Bill from it covering the period until your supply transfers to your chosen supplier. The Final Bill should take note of any credit that you had with the failed supplier. Your new supplier is not involved in the SoLR process. You may well have to wait sometime for a Final Bill as dealing with failed supplier accounts can take sometime.

when you cancel the direct debit it can trigger an automatic tariff change i.e. you can end up on a more expensive "non-DD" tariff until you set up a new DD with the new supplier

for example, this happened with the GNE to EDF transfer

HOWEVER given you cannot even log into the Utility Point website anymore then I am planning on cancelled my DD - if I could still log in to see my current up to date balance then I would have left the DD in place

Eventually after a few months (hopefully) the new supplier should add your UP credit balance to your new account balance

I downloaded my last statement yesterday pm and all my meter reading history.  Also dd now cancelled.
  • What is everyone doing as regards future supply.  Is it best to sit tight and see what is offered or is it best to apply to move? Utility Point seem to want us to sit tight at the moment.  But I think I might be better looking around now for a new provider.
