Posting for a bit of advice really.I have only just joined Utility Point at the beginning of this month and they took their first direct debit out on the 1st, the date I joined. So luckily I don't have much credit to claim back but, from reading the posts so far, it's going to be a bit of a chore - that as well as I'm waiting for a refund from my previous provider, Green.Should I cancel my direct with Utility Point, or will doing so stop the transfer to the soon-to-be newly elected provider? Also will cancelling the DD affect any refund that I should be due back?To add to my complications, Utility Point have yet to send my opening reads to Green, therefore I am still waiting for a final bill and another refund from Green. I also have another DD with Green, which they zeroed. I am in a queue on the phone to Green now, to ask them to confirm if they have my opening reads or not and to ask for advice.0

The U.K. energy market is one big Rip-Off. Government are to blame for this fiasco. Electricity prices are going to sky rocket for various reasons. Now that electric cars are being pushed upon us they will be able to charge as much as they want for electricity as they know we will have no choice but to pay up. We are all paying now for the electric car con trick even if you don’t have an electric car. The infrastructure to supply theses cars is being paid for by everyone now. Re nationalisation is the answer, not profit, profit, profit that the Tories want. We are being ripped off big time and it’s going to get a lot worse here.1

Unfortunately the fuels that power our non-renewable generators are always going to be subject to international markets - difficult to see how nationalisation would make things much better price wise, as even if energy rates are kept down in terms of tariffs the additional fuel costs would still need to be paid - you just wouldn't notice as it would be via general taxation.0

I am sure I was in credit but I do not have a statement and utility point website is down. How do I find out what my balance was? Will the new appointed provider know when they contact me?

My contract with them end's 6th Oct and I was in the middle of switching to OVO but have just been emailed by OVO to say that UP have blocked it.
Don't think they'll owe me much, if any but wondering where I stand ? Surely once my contract has officially ended I can just give OVO my meter numbers and they start supplying ? Life's never that simple though is it ?
Presumably I can at least cancel my Direct Debit now ?

I’m with or was with UP gave the requested metre reading on Sunday, they took a DD on 10th and I was due a refund of about £66 which a month ago I was told would take two months to arrive and please ‘bear with us’ lol so they knew what was coming ‘up’ and were taking in as much money as possible up to the date they ceased trading and their website disappeared, today. Credit on account approx £150. Promised refund won’t be received, let me pay another DD in the meantime citing my energy use next Winter period even though we’ll in credit and hiked my DD last Winter so that I would overpay going forward. Innocent traders? I don’t think so.Reason not to go with any small energy companies in the future.0

I had the feeling that this was coming. Usually I submit meter readings monthly, but couldn't for one month as I was traveling. They did an estimate which was way too high and took that as an opportunity to raise my direct debit. After I submitted the next meter reading I called them to get my old direct debit reinstated. CS was arguing with me that I need to build up credit in summer to cover the higher cost in winter. This is bs as they already have a higher direct debit during winter in place.

Well, this is going to be fun.Was with GNE. Initiated a switch 3 days before GNE went bustHad a final statement from GNE about 6 weeks ago so waiting on that credit refund from somewhere - EDF to sort?DDs have been going out to Utility Point where I have been logged monthly readings. But no statements yet, probably due to the GNE/EDF issue.0
