I think we are going to see major fallout from both high prices and energy shortages this winter :(
I agree. What is worrying is that, like COVID in January 2020, the Government appears not to have this issue on its radar. It is putting up taxes and cutting benefits at a time when market pressures are forcing up prices.
  • Only completed my switch to Utility Point for gas about a week ago and now this.

Complete failure of Ofgem to secure energy resilience for this country, and complete failure of competitive markets that are forcing small entrants out of business.

As for me - cancel my DD immediately.

With respect, any supplier that prices at an unsustainable level to gain customers, without the financial backing to cover the loss, should be out of business.
This is a competitive market working, not failing...

Prices are rising, competition is yielding fewer and fewer benefits to consumers as time goes on.

The travesty is none of this is being exposed in the media.

Hmmm, I moved from UP to PfP a couple of months ago and they still haven't refunded my credit balance. I wonder what the chances are of me ever seeing that are now.....

Probably better than when UP were still trading. Those clowns took 3 months and continuous chasing to refund my balance a few years ago.
  • What a pain - am in £517 credit and was hopeful that over the winter this would give me peace that I could put the heating on without worrying, this happened to mum earlier and previously ofcom said that with the initial transfer she would not be paying any more during the transfer but with this one they haven't said that

Assume you will have to pay twice what you paid last winter and you will only be a little bit under the actual amount.
    I think....

If they allocate Scottish Power as SOLR, I will literally scream! I seem to spend my life trying to get away from that shower of sh1te.

To be fair, which I'm loathe to be, SP returned my YP credit in a not-unreasonable timescale, much to my surprise.

    You might get lucky!
