EDF's latest tweet to someone asking when they're going to formally take over supply:

"Hi Dan, we understand this is a worrying time for Utility Point customers. I'm afraid we don't have any timescale for when the accounts will be transferred, however we're working hard to ensure everything is transferred as quickly and seamlessly as possible."

So with that in mind, I've just asked Octopus to take me on, on their flexible tariff as I need smart meters installing and a competent company to deal with.

You'll be lucky ! Why would they want you when they will lose money because of the cap?

I was doing a current account switch when utility point collapsed, and even though the direct debit shows up in the list on my  new current account it has not actually been claimed, resultantly there have now been two direct debits that have not been taken by Utility Point or EDF. That’s over £120 of lost payments against my usage.

Everybody at EDF says wait and set up the direct debit again once I receive my welcome pack. But nobody can tell me how long to wait. If this goes on another four weeks that will put me in debit with my account balance; and I’m fearful of being hit with a punitively large DD in the future (to cover the missed payments) or penalties (because of missed payments) because EDF can’t take the money from me right now because I just have to “wait”.

Just put the money that would be taken by DD to one side for now.

I’m not worried about being able to pay the bill when it arrives, it’s more about having to argue with them at that point that my direct debit doesn’t need to be 3x larger (other than the expected increase from the new tariff) because there is no credit in the account or have to argue against any missed DD fees because of how much they’re dragging their feet in the changeover process.

The lack of communication or progress, especially when compared with the customers of other collapsed firms some of whom have already been contacted by their new suppliers, is very frustrating.

I’ve just received another generic email from EDF telling me that all I can do is wait whilst they !!!!!! around trying to set up accounts.

The “updated” FAQs are exactly the same as the original ones posted on the SOLR announcement. No new information.

Same here. I received the same letter although I have moved away to BG Evolve since 10th Oct.
I wanted to thankyou a million times but its a shame that I can press the button just once :T
  • I too received the long winded and overly bloated waffle email which basically managed to say an awful lot without actually saying anything at all!

Very poor by EDF to communicate progress etc compared to other SOLRs ive seen.

Just arguing it out with them now. They owe me several hundred pounds and they’re not getting away with that without a fight!
