and waiting is probably going to cost people more in fewer deals. there are so many that have disappeared in just the last couple of days.Doc_N said:
I'm inclined to agree. I'm going to take a chance on it for now, and think it over in the 14 day cooling off period - nothing to lose. It's against all the advice to switch now, before EDF have provided a personalised transfer email, but I guess that the worst that can happen is a delay of a few months in repaying the £600.Spear_UK said:
your credit should be protected. but if you do run into problems you should still get it from EDF at some point.Doc_N said:The Lidl/BG offer works out at £2430 for me - as against £2412 with EDF. Tempted, because it's fixed, and for the £50 voucher, but BG Evolve has some shockingly bad reviews (worst I've seen) and I'm not sure how safe my £600 credit would be if I switched at this point.
Thanks for the heads up about the Lidl offer - it seems to be considerably lower than any other fixed deals available at the moment.0 -
This is true - I'm guessing the Lidl/BG deal will end very shortly, like all the others.Spear_UK said:

I've yet to receive an email from Utility Point or EDF, so it looks as though I am still in limbo.Using the PDF file linked to earlier, my prices will increase from around £72/pcm to nearly £90/pcm. I have to admit that's not as big as an increase as I'd initially feared, but I still want to look around for a better deal. So the sooner EDF take over my supply, the better.0

As an ex-UP customer, I received an email from EDF y'day in which they state that - and I quote - "Your prices will be matched to Standard (Variable) to give you a guaranteed rate through winter, as well as protection from changing wholesale energy prices. These are our cheapest prices... " Should I believe EDF? It seems highly unlikey that they really will put me on their cheapest tariff. Or should I dig deeper?? Are they saying that their "standard variable" is the cheapest available energy from EDF? I don't believe a word they say, but am prepared to be astounded !!

See thread above for views on this. It is their cheapest available tariff, and with a very few exceptions probably the best you’ll get at the moment. I went for the Lidl/BG deal FWIW.Avoirdupois said:As an ex-UP customer, I received an email from EDF y'day in which they state that - and I quote - "Your prices will be matched to Standard (Variable) to give you a guaranteed rate through winter, as well as protection from changing wholesale energy prices. The standard variable prices (i.e the energy cap) is less than the current wholesale price of energy.. so you will find fixed prices are higher.Avoirdupois said:As an ex-UP customer, I received an email from EDF y'day in which they state that - and I quote - "Your prices will be matched to Standard (Variable) to give you a guaranteed rate through winter, as well as protection from changing wholesale energy prices. has anybody cancelled their UP DD & been charged the £15 fee for a failed DD yet ?
Just asking as I have initiated a transfer away from UP (& not to the EDF) & will probably be cancelling the UP DD if it completes
However since UP are not updating their systems anymore I suspect I may start getting charged a failed DD fee even after I have transferred away which I would then have to sort out with EDF when I eventually get a refund of my UP credit balance

I've done the same (to BG Evolve on the Lidl deal) but I'm leaving the DD in place just in case. I doubt it'll be actioned, but if it is it can be claimed back from the bank.Inigo_Montoya said:has anybody cancelled their UP DD & been charged the £15 fee for a failed DD yet ?

Just checked the supplier database again & its now showing EDF as my supplierDoc_N said:

Just hoping that will not interfere with the requested move to BG Evolve as I've read on this forum that apparently whichever supplier starts the transfer process first blocks the later transfer attempt
Im not sure if EDF appearing in the supplier database means the transfer process has started but it would seem logical that it does mean that
