On 14 September 2021, Utility Point stopped trading so Ofgem (the industry regulator) chose EDF as your new energy supplier. EDF started supplying your energy on 18 September. Your prices will be matched to Standard (Variable) to give you a guaranteed rate through winter, as well as protection from changing wholesale energy prices. These are our cheapest prices^. We're delighted to welcome you on board.
There is no limit to how long they can make us wait. In that time you have no freedom to move provider or chose a tariff.
This is the farcical 'free market'.
It can take months to be processed. It took 5 months when this happened to me 2 yrs ago.Peace.0 -

[Now, with Utility Point: £1594]
EDF proposed tariff (Standard Variable): £2412
Only EDF alternative (Easy Online 3 year Fixed) £2848
Lowest prices available online other companies £2255 (one year fix) or £2305 (two year fix)
The £2255 one year fix would be the best bet, but with a £600 UP/EDF credit balance, I wonder whether that £600 might be at risk until EDF have issued the formal paperwork. 51% increase with EDF, but still 41% even elsewhere.0 -

After a long walk I have decided to stay with EDF on their variable rate. Even though bit dearer will go for their cash/cheque. That way I only pay for what I use. Experience has now taught me not to let any credit build up and then have a long wait for refunds.0
