the rate for gas I'm getting in my region via the lidl app are

    Unit rate                   4.2084p per kWh
    Standing Charge      23.70795p per day

by my reckoning this is going to be lower than the EDF rates after the October price rise

But higher than currently which I think are

    Unit rate                   4.043p per kWh  ( +12% = 4.53 )
    Standing charge       26.114p per day ( + 12% = 29.25 )

Shame I only need gas as you only get the £50 voucher for duel fuel

thanks to Spear_UK for posting the deal

No exit fees too so we can switch to a better deal next year if there are any

Yes I realised that after my original, now edited post

I have pulled the trigger with BG Evolve on one of my two UP gas only accounts - the one I've only just joined where I only have a very small credit balance that I can afford to lose if necessary

Its possible my final/transfer read on that account may use up all the credit too

Going to be interesting seeing how UP, BGas & EDF work it out between them - fully expecting to have to block EDF from taking over my new BGas account

The Lidl/BG offer works out at £2430 for me - as against £2412 with EDF.  Tempted, because it's fixed, and for the £50 voucher, but BG Evolve has some shockingly bad reviews (worst I've seen) and I'm not sure how safe my £600 credit would be if I switched at this point.

your credit should be protected. but if you do run into problems you should still get it from EDF at some point.

Yes EDF is responsible for refunding credit balances on "closed" UP accounts as per Ofgem guidance on their website

However its probably going to be a lot of hassle chasing it down as opposed to the SoLR process where it eventually happens automatically as a credit to the new EDF account

I have a 2nd UP account with around £400+ credit & I have decided to wait till the SoLR process has completed

After October the EDF SVR currently wont increase again till April 2022 so the smallish difference in price compared to BG Evovle isnt worth the added hassle of chasing down the £400+ refund for me personally

Its also possible I will have to deal with my & my relatives Green, Symbio & Neon Reef accounts going bust too (Im responsible for managing the bills at three properties) so this is another reason I dont want to make matters more complicated
  • I switched away when Yorkshire Energy stopped trading and scottish power was chosen as SoLR. Scottish power never even setup an account for me, but they still provided me with a cheque for my closing YE balance within about 2 months.

Can I ask how the YE & SP billing worked out ?

Even with the switch away I assume there was a short period of time when you were supposed to be on the new SP SoLR tariff ?

I'm inclined to agree.  I'm going to take a chance on it for now, and think it over in the 14 day cooling off period - nothing to lose.  It's against all the advice to switch now, before EDF have provided a personalised transfer email, but I guess that the worst that can happen is a delay of a few months in repaying the £600.

Thanks for the heads up about the Lidl offer - it seems to be considerably lower than any other fixed deals available at the moment.
