So far I'm quite pleased with RBS so I'm looking to keep it (have also switched a second un-neeeded account into it as well).  However, i opened the Select account as part of the offer, but am now interested in the Rewards account (especially as barclays are now changing the rewards account).

Does any one know if I decide to upgrade the account before the January incentive payment date, will this affect my eligility for the incentive payment? Trying to work out whether to upgrade it now or wait until after the January payment, as annoyingly i have mis-filed the original terms print out.
Looks like you'll be ok according to bullet point 4 in the section of the terms below

Well that's done, I have upgraded the account to the rewards account.  ( I have also switched a second account into RBS too, as decided to get rid of the barclays account given the changes.  ) the first reward for logging on is also already showing in my rewards section as well.

just now have to wait till they start making the switch incentive payments in january,

As I've now switched the barclays account as well, it should mean i will get the 10 transactions a month in as well now so should qualify for the £50 payment later next year too. (as that one was a more active account than the first account i switched to RBS)

Nope, but the T&Cs give them until 28/01/22.

I need to hit the 10 transactions per month to earn the extra £50. Thinking of setting up weekly £1 standing orders to myself.

And risk the customer then switching away for another offer?

I think this may be the reason they have delayed it. Keeps custom that little bit longer.

Not that you need to do much with the account that actually earns them anything tbf, e.g. direct debits, debit card transactions (that only comes in for extra fifty)

Re the £50 bonus, it looks to me as though an internal transfer, eg from the RBS Reward account to the Digital Saver, scores as one of the 10 required transactions.

Anyone seen anything to suggest the contrary?

  • I haven't. That is one of the transactions I am counting towards the ten, too
