Wow, it's great to have an ex RBS employee here. Thanks!
But do you think they would be willing to remove it after some time?
If you want to know what happened to me, here's the thread: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6249543/natwest-closing-my-2-reward-accounts-out-of-the-blue

Not that I'm very keen on having a RBS or NatWest account again (their legacy systems are as bad as HSBC) but getting the bonus would be nice.

Ulster Bank is running the same promo - I've previously managed to slip through the cracks for past offers and get an incentive from both NatWest and RBS when their terms explicitly said I wasn't eligible, so I'm tempted to try Ulster and see if I can nab something extra there as well. Anyone else tried this with previous incentives?0

I got RBS, Natwest and Ulster incentives from their last offer. All accounts opened on the same day.1

Well you convinced me to give the Ulster offer a shot. Worst case all I've done is moved one of my donor accounts to a different bank. My application submitted online last week electing to switch ASAP got deferred and I got a letter in the mail on Sat asking me to either pop into a branch (unlikely to happen since they're only in NI) or return certified ID by post. Interestingly there was no option for digidocs like NatWest/RBS. Fortunately I already had copies of my ID from something else so I sent them off on Mon. Will see what happens!0

I had to do none of this but I did have an ancient Ulster savings account so was in their system. I don't remember having been asked for ID when I opened the savings account. Perhaps they have since tightened up their processes. Good luck with your application - nothing ventured, nothing gained.0

What a palaver ?
I signed up to RBS a week ago - got my a/c number etc. Then email from hooyu - needing a video and copies of ID. That was a challenge - have your tried using a webcam for that ; the video was a difficult, the photo of ID impossible. A friend photoed my driving licence - error messages, eventually got it large enough for them. Then photo the reverse side !
Passed that test on Monday - then nothing.
Phoned RBS today - press 1 , go round in circles - then a human. The opening process takes 28 days - if I haven't had a acknowledgement by next week ring CORA - wait for "her" to say can't help then will be passed to a human and then (I presume) round and around again.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
well, i have applied for this one today, technically not eligible as switched to Natwest before, not taken too long to apply for the account, but have had to do the ID through the Hoo You process. However the application stated once checked would come back to me.
The thing i am wondering is do i then apply for the switch after it is opened, because although it took the account number and sort code as part of the application (and card) it did not ask date for when it would go ahead (or if wanted as soon as possible) so not sure if i need to provide the details again when (if) the account is opened online or if they will automatically start the switch?

well it looks like the application has been accepted as have had an email saying "Your Select account will be up and running soon. We'll email you with more details about your account within 24-48 hours."
Hopefully i will get an email reference the switch clearing up if it is started automatically from the application info or if i have to request it again, especially as though i was asked for the account and card info, it didn't ask to chose a switch date, which is not something i have come across before.MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -

Ulster Bank was previously a separate bank within the NatWest/RBS Group. As part of exiting the ROI market, they've legally restructured Ulster Bank to be a NatWest Bank trading name.0
