Something like a mortgage application coming up soon? I don’t think most banks are worried much about current accounts as such.inspectorperez said:I'm an existing Santander 123 Lite customer (joint account) and applied for a new 123 Everyday account this morning to switch from a little used First Direct account (both accounts in my sole name) without overdraft facility. The new account was open within about two minutes of the application being submitted on line with a flurry of emails and an onscreen acknowledgement showing the sort code and account number. If there was a check, it was a very soft check indeed.

Previous customer to Santander but have closed (switched out) that account some time ago.
Did application online for a new account this evening, got an OLA number. Presumably because their system has flagged from my name/address/employment details that I might have been a previous customer, so they need to do a manual check to link the profiles before releasing the new account number?0 -
Existing customer - switched a Nationwide account into 123-Lite over the phone using No on Page 2 ( option 1)Very straight forward and the customer advisor was friendly and efficient.2

A hard search has appeared on my Experian credit report.
I have opened multiple current accounts over the last 10 years (I have around 23 still open) sometimes several in the space of a few days and have never noticed any adverse effects on my ability to gain further credit.2 -

Given that there is no Santander branch close to me anymore I decided I would make an appointment to be sure of completing the switch rather than walking in and chancing my arm. Managed to find an appointment last weekend for yesterday at one of my closest Santander branches in Brixton. Upon arriving at the branch the staff looked at me blankly and explained that switches cannot be performed in branch and that this was not a service they provided, despite me highlighting this was a complete contradiction of what was on the website! Their only other contribution was to tell me to open a new account rather than switch into an existing one because it was likely to go wrong…All of this compounded by the fact I had travelled 45 minutes to Brixton solely for this appointment.
Needless to say a complaint was immediately logged with customer services! Has anyone had better luck in a branch?
Needless to say thanks to this forum I’ve been able to initiate a switch over the phone with no hassle at all. Would be a right palaver otherwise!1 -
Is it allowable to do a joint switch for Mr and Mrs Notepad along with a sole for just Mrs Notepad to get two lots of switch money? Neither of us have previously received any switch incentive from Santander so I believe we'd be alright.

The postman came laden with envelopes from Santander today; four in all. The first contained the debit card, the second the PIN for the debit card, the third contained the Online Banking Personal ID and the last one the security number for the Online Banking Personal ID.
They may as well have stuffed them in one envelope and saved on the postage.1 -
I have received my One time Password
Debit Card/Pin
One time Security Number to come.
Don't think banks meant to send all the stuff at once for security
How long did it take for all that stuff to arrive?0 -
