Learning to walk before I run

I have that as well PD but wouldn't want to fall foul of rules around referrals 😅

Cheering you on with the couch to 5K whilst quietly sliding past it as I loathe running! 😂 I will dance all night but no running, thank you …

I agree, running & jogging were invented by the devil. The thought of running makes my knees ache.

A slow day for finances (and people, we were up half the night with sick or unhappy little people) ☕️
- £12.21 to Extension (money left after switching family to cheap Lebara mobile plans, a few pence from overbudgeted budget lines, cashback)
- £8.31 withdrawn from Prolific, £3.24 to Tax, rest to Personal Spends
- £59 to S&S ISA from Personal Cash Savings. I have decided that I would like enough in there to retire 6 months earlier (57.5 🤞). Target seems tough but achievable. I'm going to use the =FV formula in Excel and a monthly payment to achieve the goal, seems to be working well for DDs (DD1 is now nearly 11 years into her investment journey)!
- A few £ moved to "Ready to Assign" in YNAB, payday tomorrow

It's my payday tomorrow too. I can't wait. January seems to have been at least 642 days long, and now February is looking out into the distance too
Save £12k in 2026 #2 I have banked £865.15 in January against a £10k target The 2026 Save £12k in 2026 thread is here
OS Grocery Challenge in 2026 I am sticking with a £3000 annual budget for 2026 - currently £138.39 for January and a bigger target of £300 for February, with lots to stock up on

Well done. I’ve completed it a couple of times. Very clever programme. I now run 4-5k once per week and couple of sessions at the gym. The running is the thing that impacts my fitness most positively.

I have been paid and there is no overtime for the first time in a long time, not quite sure of the appropriate emoji? On the one hand, I hated my old job and overtime wasn't good for my MH or family life, on the other hand, I had more money and life is expensive!
I feel I need to keep telling myself that some of the positive life changes we're experiencing are only just kicking in and that I need to give myself time to get used to them.
- New job pays a little more, it's not crushing my spirit, I'll be due pay rises in April and December if my contract is extended.
- First smaller mortgage payment went out on the 1st of Feb. Yes, it's only £260/mth less than before, but that's £3,120 a year.
- January was my first attempt at reducing our grocery bill, I saved £200 vs the average. That's an 18% reduction and £2,400 a year.
- We're saving c. £1,000/mth but only need to do so for another 58 months (who's counting)? We have saved large amounts of money for years before (granted, our outgoings were less then).
No real financial news today as I'm trying to get our "Ready to Assign" figure back up to £8,000 in YNAB. This might take a little while.
£23.61 withdrawn from Prolific. £9.92 to Tax, the rest to Personal Spends.Did second run from Couch to 5K 🏃

A £260/month reduction on the mortgage is massive! That's definitely more than an "only" 😀
