I agree. My paternal grandmother's sister married someone from Perth, who became Sheriff of Perth at one time. We also love the Cairngorms area and the beautiful countryside (and welcoming communities) that is so accessible from thereSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £10,020.92 out of £6000 after September
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £2234.63/£3000 or 74.49% of my annual spend so far (not going to be much of a Christmas at this rate as no spare after 9 months!
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread

Busy day!
1. Have had the mildest sniff of another job with the same employer that pays more and I may have an "in". Too embryonic to get excited about but definitely a possible, which is more than I've had for about a year 🤷🏻♂️
2. August pay slip is in and backdated pay + overtime is about £800 gross. £63.92 paid into my SIPP (about £96 after tax relief and tax code adjustment). Another £170 or so net set aside for living for today expenses 😁
3. Another £2.52 paid into SIPP as sin tax £3.78 after yada yada
3. Earned $5 on Prolific and withdrew £10.27
4. Paid £36.33 into my S&S dividend pot since yesterday, bought a slice of my pie
5. Finally cut the cable after Virgin decided to increase our cost by 20% despite the service getting steadily worse. Trying mobile broadband, 15-20% discount Vs current price+ £110 cashback 🤞🏻
6. Grocery shopping done
7. Sticking to my no overtime word 🙂

Staying with the same employer but with more money might mean more responsibilities. Is this a good thing …? 🤔Lots of monies flying about everywhere … 😊 Where did the rest of the back pay and OT £800 go? (Ignore me if this is a nosey question! 😊)
Fair enough of dropping virgin … they sound hopeless. Hope the new BB is ‘good enough’ if not excellent! 😊
Hope you have some nice plans for the weekend?

@KajiKita - same employer, different department, my current department has a bad reputation for "sweating" people. I'm not against more responsibilities and feel ready to cope with them as long as I'm using my skills and am supported. I was ready for a promoted post a few years ago, life and imposter syndrome just got in the way. Will cost me nothing to find out what's what.
Can't say more just now as it's a very niche roll but I've been led to believe an academic generalist with no specific experience of the new department could work well if they fit in with the team (some of whom I already know).
40% of the £800 went to the gummint, about £240 went to SIPP and fun, rest will go into general household budget. Well, it will next Tuesday when I'm paid.
Weekend plans haven't been formed yet, will take DD2 swimming tomorrow. She's settling into nursery, very proud of her7 -
Ah, okay. That makes sense on the possible new role then 😊 I am quietly and discreetly wishing you luck … 🤞😊
Well done DD2 👏❤️

DD2 managed 13.5 hours sleep with only one brief wakeup, perhaps that explains why she was a total cherub today?
We went swimming this morning and she was confident, happy and adventurous. She has pretty much chilled for the rest of the afternoon but has not whispers it been a tool
As a consequence, I am in a wonderful mood, Mrs E has even commented on it. That is despite spending 2 hours cleaning the kitchen (fruit flies) and prepping a Chinese meal from scratch (stir fried pork and veg with a homemade sauce and udon noodles). I've velveted the pork and everything.
Mobile broadband has arrived and it has managed between 150MB and 263MB, which is very respectable for the price.
£10.24 OPed, £7.50 and $0.23 withdrawn from Prolific, £5 paid into my S&S dividend pie from my personal spends account. Now all I need is to win Euromillions
Happy Friday all7 -

It was very nice, would have been perfectly happy to have it delivered.
In tangentially related news, I'm very disappointed to see the massive price rises coming for Mounjaro. I can't justify £300+ a month, that's "whole family can join a sports club" territoryWill see what happens when the dust settles but it looks like I won't be able to afford it anymore. There are alternatives but they're not as effective. A shame, I've been privileged to get a helping hand with the hard work of weight loss, it seems such a retrograde step from the manufacturer.
