Oh dear… it’s a phase, doesn’t last forever. (Although thanks to a very choppy ferry journey I had the pleasure of viewing my17year old throw up 4-5 times this weekend, while I staggered backwards and forwards to the bin with sick bags 🤢)2017 - mortgage of £140,000 and interest rate of £10 a day

Had a lovely overnight to Perth & Kinross and Angus, saw bits of the country that we never have before, and generally had our eyes opened to opportunities that we hadn't considered previously.
Bits of Perthshire are very nice (including property nearer to the City centre that are comparable to Glasgow West end in terms of accommodation quality (if not environs) for 1/2 the price), and there are a host of nice wee villages in Angus where we could be mortgage free now if we went for the nuclear option and sold our current home + liquidated savings and investments. We're not going to do that because school quality doesn't seem to be as good out there but nice to know that there are options where we could have a very LCOL lifestyle and start again, was that necessary. For example, distant parent has 3 beds, direct sea view and is 2 hours to Glasgow on a train (for less than we paid for our house 10 years ago).
Actual catchup with family was pleasant (if a little awkward and prone to lapses in communications too) but that's a marked improvement on usual quality. Genuinely felt pleased to meet with some extended family and hear a bit more about their lives
Back now, skint as kids off to school tomorrow, £13.91 OPed.
Edit: £33.13 paid into my S&S ISA, purchased a slice of my now 33 company dividend pie and £1 made from a Y Live survey.
Not doing overtime this week.6 -
Glad the family trip was satisfactory and has given you sense of other possibilities 😊<quietly notes the OP exceeding the £10-no-big-OPs-promise-to-Mrs-Edinburgher>

I never promised that, I mentally promised no single payment into the OP pot of more than £10, which I've stuck to. For example, I had £21 odds left in the petrol pot. £1 went into OPs, the other £20 went to home improvements6
