Oh ed - maybe I am a rubbish parent. LG woke up this morning complaining of feeling sick, and started wandering around with our 'big bowl'. I wasn't convinced that they were ill, and sent them off to school 😱 I do think our household experienced 'can't be boffered-itis', as there is still disruptive, unpleasant behavioural stuff going on at school 😟edinburgher said:....DD1 not well (nausea (luckily not vomiting) and slept very badly), taking a day off. I'm zonked as well as I was up with her at 02:00 giving her a hug and a big bowl......
Hope DD is restored to vitality soonest and makes a full recovery of health and energy levels. Hope her dear da re-coups his energy too!

@Greying_Pilgrim - I know what you mean by "can't be boffered-itis" - DD1 has reached that stage a good 5 years before either of her parents did! We have sent her to school with a dose of Calpol when she has been ill in the past, but we have to trust her to be generally honest about such things as she approaches 10. In fairness to her, she did spend the morning like a half-shut knife, moaning under a blanket and being very photosensitive.Made $20 from a survey, looking forward to my bed.7

I agree about the 'have to trust' bit. And as LG went quite calmly and willingly to school in the end, I think it was possibly just a bit of hand-holding and reassurance that was needed on this occasion. Naturally, had LG actually been sick, well then I'm happy to adhere to the 48hr rule. To be fair, LG hasn't had a day off yet this academic year, and they're not (yet) really conversant with 'skyving', although plenty in the school are 🫤
Fingers crossed you get an undisturbed slumber.

DD1 is still off today - feeling queasy, photosensitive, blocked sinuses, lethargic. Not really sure what to do with her - no temperature, has been asked about emotional upset, knows she's going to the doctor tomorrow if things don't improve
$25 + 90p from studies yesterday, $41.50 so far today.£3.90 OPed.Work a bit calmer than usual but trying not to fall behind by relaxing too much

Oh ed, poor DD. Fingers crossed it's one of these virus thingummies that go as quick as they arrive, and leave you none the wiser.
Sensible to check with the Doc tho - if nothing else, they may be aware of what is 'doing the rounds' locally. When LG had scarlet fever, the Doc thought that was what it was (symptoms can vary and not all symptoms show/at the same time) likely to be as it was raging around the town 😟

NHS website surprised me! Ginger biscuits are recommended for nausea without vomiting (as is ginger tea but guessing a 9 year old might prefer a ginger biscuit). This is not advice, just an observationSave £12k in 2025 #2 I saved £14,660.97 of £6000 or 244.35% of my target. The 2026 Save £12k in 2026 thread is here
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I finished the year at £2880.99/£3000 or 96.03% of my annual spend so I am sticking with a £3000 annual budget for 2026

Ginger biscuits are good for nausea, my district nurse (checking on wound) recommended. She realised that I shouldn't have been taking the aspirin the hospital sent me home with without that bit of paper you normally get when you buy them. Whoops.7

Thanks all, she was back at school today, just in time for all her pals to get norovirus
