Also, I don’t believe that 100% of all online debit card transactions require aproval in the Chase app. I had some low value transactions going through without approval. What are the values of the fraudulent transactions on your account?
Even a £2.60 train fare, in-app, though that has been overcome by using my Curve card number instead, attached to Chase.
Yesterday, I had five online transactions all require app approval before being processed.
I understand the measure, however, it does become quite irritating at times.
If I front the Chase card with Curve, I now need to confirm the transaction with a code that Curve text me, or via the Curve app (different from retailer to retailer). No further approval required with Chase.
Whether I use the Chase card directly, or fronted with Curve, I always get an almost instant text from Chase about the purchase, without fail. If the transaction is made via Curve, there is also a near instant notification from Curve about the purchase, every time.
So if the person who had their account emptied into Mecca Bingo wasn't asked for approval, and didn't get any notification about these transactions, it seems their phone number may have got changed in their Chase profile. Such a change does require a text message to the registered phone number, however. So in reality, the change of phone number either requires physical access to the account holder's mobile (e.g. whilst they are in the shower etc), or a SIM swap may have taken place. We might never find out.1 -

We might never find out.Remembering that registration of a new device automatically deactivates the app on the existing device (though it could be re-registered at a later time), and that a SIM swap would result in permanent and irreversible loss of mobile services to the existing phone, either of these events seem unlikely, but enduring access to the existing device would permit a third party to set things up, authorise the transactions, and then cover their tracks. Points to either some form of persistent remote access, or physical access by someone in the vicinity of the device at the time of the transactions and for some time thereafter.Regarding the transaction notifications, I believe these are in-app push notifications rather than text messages that could later be checked.

I'm trying to take advantage of the Chase "refer a friend" scheme. When I send the link it refuses to load on my wife's phone. I've also tried to load the link on other devices - still won't load.
Anyone else had this problem?0 -

so some 2017 phones will be OK but conversely many 2022 ones won't be....
The majority of phones on sale right now are running 64 bit operating systems. Current ARM CPU's have already started dropping support for running a 32 bit operating system and CPU's released next year will drop support for running 32 bit apps entirely.
If you buy a phone with a 32 bit operating system today, then it's going to be a very poor experience as apps have been dropping support for a few years already.
Chase would have to commit to double their resources to provide 32 bit & 64 bit versions, for a group of ever smaller customers.

Do Chase tell people in the Google Playstore that they need 64 bit HW? How hard would it be for Chase to actually tell people (and refer them to websites of the device suppliers if people don’t know what they have)? It would save some people chasing their tail.

Is anyone here actually using the chase card regularly?
Is that app user friendly?
Is it worth having as a main account0 -

It would save some people chasing their tail. The Google Play store only lists apps that are compatible, so anyone with 32-bit Android will only see the Chase US app. This is why we have seen several confused people wondering why they need to enter their social security number. It seems the Chase UK app is offered to those with 64-bit Android 8.0, but when it runs it complains about needing an update (presumably because Android 8.0 devices still in support could update to 8.1).I wholeheatedly agree that Chase should be clarifying that 64-bit Android is one of the requirements. It could be forgiven at the outset, as it might have been assumed very few such devices still existed, but it has become clear some manufacturers were still clinging on to the 32-bit OS, perhaps in the knowledge it almost guaranteed it would drive the sale of a new device in the short term. Chase owe it to customers to be up front about what they need in order to use the app.2
