Well thanks for the warning James - I’d have been so stressed if I booked airline tickets and then couldn’t produce the ‘right’ card at check-in!
In hundreds of flights across many airlines I have never been asked to present a credit card at check-in to prove it was the card used for payment. Has anyone actually experienced this, or is it just a myth?

Only once over several hundred, when a booking had not ticketed properly - and there was no ticket number showing.  If I had noticed before I got to the airport however, I would have been able to sort over the phone without showing a card at the airport.

It's worth noting that the card details available in the app are not the same as the details of the physical card.

I used a third-party app to find the full card number of my physical card so I could link the card with Airtime Rewards.

You can also run into problems buying train tickets for collection - if you use the card details shown in your Chase app, you won't be able to use the physical card to collect the tickets from a self-service machine as the card numbers won't match.
I’m sure I have collected tickets with the wrong card before, let me try this week and report back

Yes the physical card number is definitely not the same as the one displayed in the app for online / phone use.

There are a number of Android apps which will read a contactless card via NFC and give you the card details.

Thanks James, I have just found an NFC app and yes you are correct the number is quite different, sorry I doubted you.. :o
The NFC app doesn't display the security number on the back of the card which also isn't shown on the actual card, only available in the Chase app, I therefore assume this is the same number using card online or physically when shopping etc?

There's a flag that ticket retailers can set in the booking system - bookings can either be set as 'any card' or 'same card'.

Bookings by Paypal or Apple Pay etc will be set as 'any card' by default. Most other bookings default to 'same card' collection.

My BA e-ticket said that you must bring the original payment card to checkin. But I agree, no-one has ever asked for it.

I have the current and savings accounts and am very happy with them. Would it be possible to have my state pension paid directly into the savings account? I could then just transfer to my current as and when needed. I have a separate Santander 123 Lite account funded by a private pension for my bills.

Should be possible, as the savings account has a sort code and an account number, which is all that's needed for a payment to be made into it. I don't have any 3rd party payments going into mine, but have made deposits from several different accounts, and they all worked like clockwork. There is also nothing in the T&Cs which prohibits deposits from 3rd parties.

This is something that has worried me too because I use hotels a lot and they often ask for the card you booked with when you check in, so I'm not sure how that would work either?   I guess If i do sign up for Chase I will just have to remember to use my secondary account/card to book things that require this sort of thing.
