Chase UK discussion

Not sure why you are not sure how iWeb’s view comes into this - it‘s just a fact that you currently cannot use a Chase UK card and account at iWeb and that they completely block your account if you try to.Deleted User said:Chase UK is a registered bank at Companies House and with the Prudential Regulation Authority. The debit card is defined as UK issued card by Mastercard. I'm not sure where 'iWeb' s view' comes into it. It's poor administration by iWeb - plain & simple.
Of course iWeb is totally in the wrong, which is why I will take the matter to the FOS.But as this will take forever to resolve, in the meantime people with iWeb accounts cannot use their Chase UK card there. And no, I won‘t be moving my investments away from iWeb.2 -
wonder if you can link Curve card with iWeb. If so, link chase card with Curve then link Curve card with iWeb. Just an idea. Please don't shoot the messengerDaliah said:

Even if you could, the fees imposed by Curve for that cash fronted transaction would make it pointless, I'm sure.OceanSound said:

I used to use my Nationwide debit card until, for some unknown reason, it would no longer work with iWeb, so simply changed to another of my high street accounts. We'll see in April if it plays up again.1 -
the 'even if you could' bit means you're speculating that part.wiseonesomeofthetime said:

As for the next part, are you sure it would count as a cash fronted transaction? (Due to personal experience or otherwise) Or is that speculation too?0 -
Good thinking but I don't think that would work, as you also have to give iWeb the sort code and account number the debit card is linked to, and there is no current account linked to Curve. In any case, I am not going to try it as I don't fancy the idea of having my iWeb account locked again.OceanSound said:wonder if you can link Curve card with iWeb. I don't think there would be any fees but it's academic as there's no current account linked to the Curve card, and you can't therefore register it.wiseonesomeofthetime said:Even if you could, the fees imposed by Curve for that cash fronted transaction would make it pointless, I'm sure.
That's interesting - they obviously have some overzealous, or daft, person in charge of the card / account verification checks.wiseonesomeofthetime said:

I have in the past used Halifax and Santander cards successfully, and it seems the Santander card I have registered now is to their liking.

No Curve fronted fees if the card behind is debit. Fronted is only for credit cards.wiseonesomeofthetime said:

Unless I'm mistaken, there's no reason to force the issue. No cashback to be made. iWeb is being difficult and I fully support the challenge of them rejecting a valid UK debit card and current account. This is yet another reason to hold multiple current accounts, in this case so that you aren't inconvenienced more than necessary when a company is excessively picky about what is a UK bank account. I have no doubt Daliah had no trouble picking another of her accounts to register with iWeb, but imagine having to open a new bank account just for this purpose! It seems like HSDL putting in a lot of effort to upset customers between this and their glacial processing of transfers.

My argument is that iWeb are preventing people from switching their current account to Chase UK. Never mind that I have got any number of alternative current accounts, and that Chase UK isn't yet a viable alternative as an only account, due to the lack of DDs. But how dare iWeb insist that my Chase UK card is not from a UK bank!masonic said:Unless I'm mistaken, there's no reason to force the issue. I've seen a larger advertising push recently.
But they're still not a normal bank and still think their "numberless card" is the "it" feature - most cards I've seen are numberless on the top at least.0 -
Do ChaseUK have a banking license?Daliah said:When I called iWeb, it transpired that, in their view, Chase UK is not a UK bank.
I have also made Chase aware of the issue but they aren't interested.
Because I wouldn't call them a bank - no direct debits (for starters!) - who doesn't use them these days?!
And if Chase aren't interested, shows their care and attention is as good as their care giving.0
