Curve is no more faff than Google pay. Adding cards is exactly the same and if you switch to curve as default with all your cards added, it works no differently.
But it's yet another thing to sign up to, I just wish Barclays would permit google pay access.
Apparently, Barclays do not consider android to be secure enough.
Apparently is the word - strange that a plethora other card issuers use it and Barclays just happens to have a competitor product.

If you ever travel abroad, or buy things in currencies other than Sterling, then Curve is a useful card to have (along with Monzo and Revolut).
Why would you want to use Curve with this card? This is cheaper than Curve and has a full banking licence.

    This...
Works with Google pay via chrome but not on Android, so no contactless payment.  You can get round this by using Curve card which can be added to Android Google pay.

Surely, if that was the case they wouldn't have an Android app? More likely they don't want to pay commission to Google for using Google Pay, so customers have to use the Barclays system instead.

Am I correct in thinking that Chase will not pay the 1% cashback on direct debits? For example, paying bills and transfers to stocks and shares ISAs?

I'm just thinking you could earn cashback using your credit card, then earn more cashback by paying off the credit card. Or is this too good to be true?

Where did you get the idea they might pay cashback on DDs? Or for transfers of any sort? Or for paying off your credit card?

Theres a big list of exclusions.

Most of what you said won't work, for example credit cards and savings/stocks and shares, however some bills might work just depends on the MCC.

Yes, you're probably right. The sarcastic 'apparently' was because a Barclays CSA actually told me that a while back.
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.

Chase are very on the case with the MCCs. I have reverted to my cashback credit card for some purchases as 0.5% is better than the 0% I get with Chase. The good news is that you can instantly see in the app whether the transaction counts for cashback or not.

The traditional bypass for the purposes of cashback with Curve won't work any longer, either
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6301058/updates-to-curve-t-cs. Though you can still use the Chase card with Curve in most cases, you just won't get cashback for things such as tax payments or deposits into savings accounts. Some transactions, such as credit card payments, will be declined outright.
