    Cashback Exclusions | Chase UK - The literature is not too clear on the above, classic uncle sam.
    It's pretty clear that there's no cashback on direct debit payments (if that's what @hpuse is asking).
    @flaneurs_lobster
    I think I missed it, where does it say paying bills using direct debit or by bank transfer/standing order are excluded from cashback?
    This is why I pointed out literature is not clear on the above, incl the 3 common categories of payment most of us make every month, I couldn't see it mentioned.
    Front page of the website:

    1% cashback on the things you love

    From little treats to your next holiday abroad, get 1% cashback on your everyday debit card spending for a whole year.

    I'm aware that they're revising how it works from April but don't think that bit's changing.
    I have edited my response to add the link to the “new” cashback version, which as you said has not changed with regards to be specific to Debit Card spend

    Hi,
    Does anyone know whether mortgage, council tax  & utility payment switch to direct debit are covered in 1% Chase cash back scheme? That is easily a tenner to 20 for anyone in the current weather, init?

    There's no Chase cashback for Direct Debits. Only for certain payments with the debit card. Two very different things.
    It is very strange, am a new customer trying'em out after opening and I transferred and then transferred back to main account £10 to see if it works via FP. All went good.
    They are showing that £10 as qualifying for cashback? That means if you pay mortgages or bills by standing order or bank transfer (where there is no merchant category) - in theory you are eligible for cashback atleast for a year?
    Strange indeed! I've transferred loads over the past year as I expect many here have and never received cashback - apart from anything else it would be open to all sorts of abuse!

    Lot’s of confusion here.. Qualifying for Cashback means that you meet the criteria for earning cashback on your Debit Card spend, not that the FP has earned you any cashback… the criteria is £500 pm from April but I believe that for new customer that signed up just before the change, may still be cashback for a year on Debit Card spend (main difference is that in the new customer offer there was no pay in requirements and the cashback monthly value was not capped - now £15 pm)

    @ccluedo
    My mistake - it is not the case, that was put under spent, not rewards :disappointed:

    Agreed!
    Thanks for confirming no cap on cashback until end of this month.

    Thanks, and sorry for causing the confusion
    For everyone's benefit, basically you will only get 1% cashback for 1 year for:
    *  point of sale transactions (for e.g supermarkets/restaurants )
    *  online transactions (e.g holidays, amazon, other purchases etc )
    *  apps and digital wallets (e.g netflix using apple/google/pay )
    Note: Exclusions will still apply at individual transaction level - see list Cashback Exclusions | Chase UK

    After the first year, the cashback is capped at £15 per month.

    …..and you will then only qualify if at least £500 were deposited into your Chase current account, ftom a non-Chase account, in the previous calendar month. That is, if the T&Cs stay as they presently are.

    I've just transferred £500 into my Chase account (and straight back out again), this time I did get a fairly instant 'You have qualified for cashback' notification.

    I am guessing you will have to transfer some back so you can spend it and get the cashback ?
