  • @mab3000 a payment at around 1340 today took over 6 hours to show in "transactions" even though at payment time it had to be approved by opening the app.

It didn't change the available balance at the time either.

The payee confirmed instantly in their app that all was OK and my online account via the web showed it as paid.

Ghosts in the machine at the Chase end I guess.

    Thanks both for your corrections.

I have done a few dozen over the last few days and cannot remember.  Do many offer the choice of direct debit or credit/card debit card numbers?

If so, I’m going to need to go back and look …
    A few offer both.
And apologies if you know this, but the easy way to tell the difference:

Direct debits require 6 digit sort code and 8 digit account number

Debit (and credit) card payments ask for the 16 digit card number and expiry date,  and usually the 3 digit CVV number.
Thanks, yes.  I was simply hoping against all that some suggestions from others might save me going through all of them to check. I think generally all the meaty bills like council tax and utilities are DD’s …. and others …. well …

Is anyone having issues with debit card payments today? They have gone through ok at the shops I’ve been in. However one I made at lunchtime today has only just come off my available balance and showing on my transaction list. And the transaction I made in Asda 2 hours ago is not showing on my account at all as yet, again not reflecting on my available balance.
Yes, slow today. Small asda spend , mid afternoon, no notification and not gone from balance. Normally it's been almost instant.

    Put a complaint in!

Last week internal transfers between savings account and current account were taking 90mins which is unacceptable.

I also made 2 transactions at 1400 and 1405 in different places one day last week, one took 2hours, the other15 hours. This was due to IT issues (again) at Chase.

Slow for me too. Topped my chase account enough to use the go back in time feature on curve, to adjust a card transaction and put it on chase. That failed a few times before going through.

However, the adjusted transaction is now showing up twice on chase, not curve, which means somehow my chase account is in a negative balance. I might just leave it like that and hopefully the incorrect line drops off.

If you would like to check whether you pay by DD, you can do this in your Chase app, and if you use other banks, also in their apps. They all list the DDs you have authorised.

But you might have a different question? If so, could you ask again, and detail what you wish to know?

Oh I don’t feel it’s impacted me to put a complaint in. Hasn’t caused me any inconvenience or problems. I was just curious to see if anyone else was having issues.

First time I’ve had an issue like this with Chase tbh

Thanks, but I cannot see any. Where is it please?  Doesn’t it only list DD’s it has actually paid rather than simply exist?

It shows whether paid or not. But if you set a DD up very recently it may not have been included in the list yet. AIUI it can take up to 10 working days.

If you go to Payments and then Scheduled, you'll see your standing orders and Direct Debits there. Once it's been set up and processed, it'll show even before you pay for it. My gym membership showed up there without me having paid it.
