I just submit my meter reading the normal way on the PfP portal. Much easier than the email nonsense.

And the KILL SWITCH bit?  I mean come on.
If instead of making wild accusations of 'sensationism' you had taken the trouble to open the reference links I provided and had checked the facts (hint: try reading the SMETS2 specification), you would know that Electricity Smart Metering Equipment has a Load Switch that disables the connection, and that Gas Smart Metering Equipment has a Shut Off Valve that disables the gas flow.  To quote the jargon:-
    4349
    Load Switch
A component or combination of components that can close or open (including on receipt of a 4349Command to that effect) to Enable or Disable the flow of electricity to and from the Premises.
    4516
    Valve
A component that can open or close (including on receipt of a Command to that effect) to Enable or Disable the flow of gas to Premises.
    4.5.3.10
    Disable Supply
A Command to establish a Locked state whereby the Supply is Disabled and can only be Armed in response to a Command to Arm the Supply (as described in Section 4.5.3.7).  In executing the Command GSME shall be capable of setting the SupplyState(4.6.5.18) to Disabled.

I couldn't access the PfP meter read submission webpage; the website is running at snail pace. Once I finally logged on and clicked on the meter read tab I received a msg telling me this facility had been disabled.  So I have had no option but to submit via email. I don't think that the email route is very intuitive - i.e. request to copy and paste - which in my email puts all elements onto a single line but the example is one element per line.

I was just meaning when we are 6 feet under the smart meters will still be here.  No point going on about them.  It's a fact.  Rather than scare people, just accept them.  It's not important.  That's just the way things go.

Oh! It worked as normal, for me, this morning. But that was before I got the email, as it is my normal meter reading day.

I suppose the email may have created a meter reading storm, which makes me wonder how many people don't bother with submitting monthly readings normally.

In my case I provided daily meter reads from the point PfP ceased trading to the point where I received the email from BG that they had taken over my supply.  Whilst I can't comment on other customers, I tried to submit a meter reading today to ensure a clean handover.  My take is that many customers have done as I have done rather than not bothering to do monthly reads.

I think I'll send in daily reads, from now on, so as to try to get as long at PfP rates as I can. They won't be able to deal with everyone at once.

Daily meter reads?  Why?  Saving a couple of pence?

Why not? Only takes a minute or so.

That's fine.  Why waste time on something so trivial.  And it takes more than a minute or so.  I have logged on.
