Hello there,
We've written a new guide on fibre to the premises (FTTP) broadband and would love your feedback on it.
Please let us know if you find it helpful, what we could do to improve it and if you have any other tips you think we should add.
Thanks in advance for your help!

1) There's a typo for TT's Future Fibre service @ £40/m. That offers 500 Mbps at that price, not 250 Mbps as shown.
2) In the FTTP illustration at the top, what's that blue thing in the middle? A fibre aggregation node?1 -
Hi JenB79,
Thanks for the feedback. I've amended TalkTalk, great spot!
Also, yes, it's a fibre aggregation node, another good spot. We choose to make the diagram more realistic, rather than just having a simplistic cable direct from exchange to the home.
If you spot anything else, or think we've missed something, drop us another message.
Thanks again,
MSE Chris1 -
I've not read the guide yet but your title for this thread needs rethinking, it took me 2 or 3 go's to make any sort of sense of it

For what its worth as an early FTTP install i have .FTTP 80/20 from BT with non optical old style copper wire phone connection ( yes i know )0
-
BT/Openreach installed the fibre cables to the top of all the telegraph poles in my area, so FTTP is available to those who want it. My broadband deal (Fibre to the cabinet) was coming to an end so i searched four suppliers. All four only offered FTTP. Two suppliers confirmed BT was enforcing this. FTTC is more than adequate at 35Mbps but it seems I'll be forced to pay extra for FTTP. How can BT abuse their position as a major internet infrastructure supplier in this way?

What exactly are BT enforcing? How many suppliers are offering FTTP? FTTP is generally more expensive than FTTC so what extra are you being "forced" to pay?0
-
Openreach are not abusing their position, like it or not copper is being phased out. A few providers are now simply taking the decision to only offer services via FTTP if that's available. That doesn't mean you have to take the full, all singing and dancing ultrafast affair, you can still get lower speeds to suit your budget.startyourown said:BT/Openreach installed the fibre cables to the top of all the telegraph poles in my area, so FTTP is available to those who want it.
