Hi all
Our oven has died. After all the car trouble you really couldnt make it up. DH is on his way home from work and his half cooked tea is sitting in the lukewarm oven. I have given up and sat down with a cuppa. He will have to decide what he wants to do about food when he gets in.
Lots of paid stuff done, our duvet cover almost dried outside, quick hoover around, shiny bits in kitchen polished. Very tired tonight.

So I have been to work.
Popped into one of the co-ops on the way home (there are 4 close by...3 are former pubs - they are 'blue' co-ops and 'green' co-ops I have loyalty cards for both types). Anyway I have scored much YS stuff. 4 salmon fillets have been cooked; 3 will be frozen. Packed lunch stuff, them. Chicken fillets - frozen as is until I need some chicken. Smoked haddock - I am 'saving up' for a fish pie again.

Fingers crossed, YL, that maybe it's something fairly easy and not expensive to replace, like the element. We have put 2 new elements in our’s to make it live to fight another day.
The weather unexpectedly turned into a drying day, so 2 loads dried outside. Some admin done, not enough. Budget spreadsheet looked at. Needs tweaking as it still isn’t quite doing what I want it to. It seems very good at showing me how I am overspending though.
Dinner cooked - veggie tagine. WULTD. Kitchen sink cleaned. Lunch prepped for tomorrow.
Inadvertently caught a clip of a video diary, which threw me down a deep hole that is usually in the depths of my mind and not somewhere I like to go, especially for the past 6 months. Feeling a bit fragile now, especially as DD is bravely trying to get sorted for going away to uni in a couple of weeks. An evening with my book tonight, I think.8 -
- Many apologies - did put a list on for today - it was the boudoir. I must have forgotten to click 'Post Comment'

Lots of time in the WAC club last night for no particular reason.
However lots of flying today;
1 load through WM
1 load through DW
A few small items hand washed
Went to Mr L
vacuumed throughout the house
Changed my bedlinen
Watered some pot plants, eek didn't do the tomatoes, I've just remembered.
Filled bird feeders.
Did some general tidying.
Did the usual answering of lots of emails, messages and phone calls.
Black mark of the day goes to GP surgery. I hadn't realised we had to book the district nurse ourselves, had rather assumed someone would come round to check on Mum, remove stitches etc. having been directed by the hospital. Wrong. Rang surgery at 1.50; recorded message saying they were shut 1.30-4.30. Rang several times after 4.30 but of course engaged, finally got through. Explained the situation "can you bring her to the surgery?" er ...what!!!! Then "well when are the stitches needing to be taken out?" er....i'm not a nurse; the incision is covered by a dressing and I'm not about to be removing it to have a look. "You will have to ring the hospital and ask them when the stitches need to come out; we have no paperwork through yet to say she has gone into hospital". By this time I'm steaming. Rang various numbers at the hospital - PALS closes at 4.30. Finally spoke to a nurse on Mum's most recent ward, who said the GP pracice nurse should see her tomorrow or by Monday. Rang GP back to relay the information. "Oh dear, we are chocca, there is only one nurse in tomorrow or Monday." Gosh, should I have predicted several weeks ago that Mum was going to need to see a nurse? "It's getting late now, can you ring back at 8.30 tomorrow morning?". Let's say I was less than pleased. I then wrestled with the holiday insurance forms.
Now let's be positive: I achieved a lot of flying today; I managed to walk down to the beach and have a swim while Mum was resting, with the bonus of Bournemouth air show overhead; Mum continues to do well; I must be getting fitter by all the running up and down stairs fetching and carrying things for her. The place is beginning to look like a florist as, apart from the arrangement I did for her party which I keep topping up from the garden, she has a bouquet from her neighbour then 2 separate arrangements were delivered today from various friends/family.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10 -
Not done huge amounts today BUT..we collected a FREE ottoman bed for the girls room so I can 'lose' a bunch of *stuff*. We also offered to take the old mattress to the tip if it would help the givers out which they were thankful for so we have a manky old mattress in the car boot waiting to be taken to the tip.Dug out the cupboard under the stairs and took the first meter reading since February.. it's not too far off the estimate tbh so that is a good thing.. UTILITY PRICES GO UP AT THE END OF THE MONTH SO GET SWITCHING TO A FIXED RATE NOW TO PRESERVE YOUR LOWER COST! !
DS1 is going to be making a contribution to the finances, he is earning more money now and while he is only here a few nights a week my electric is increased by £30 a month when he is here! Not to mention water/toiletries/and the fact we can not claim the housing benefit we would be entitled to if he wasn't on the electoral roll as living here.. (£13 a week) so a minimum of £20 a week is going to be requested.4 loads of washing done including 2 duvets and hung out and both washers reloaded but not yet full3 girls bathed, Squeak can do herself in the morning.
Sorted Squeaks timetable for HE and included a booklist so we are heading to the library if it is EVER open. I think she may be doing more work at home than she was at school! Secondary school appear to have not got the message she is not going despite me telling the local authority and the school twice.. I will call them on whatever day they are supposed to start.. we did not fill out the registration forms or attend the transition events so they know we aren't even considering it.
Sorted a list of topics she wants to learn about and recipes for cooking and we are looking at the community allotments which will get her out of the house.
Saturday we are going to have a squint around the musical theatre school and meet staff etc. She is already enrolled but wants to go look at the building and meet staff and maybe one or two of the young people in the same class.. I have to go with her because I talk endlessly and she is incredibly shy and developed selective mutism about a 18 months ago. This is one of the reasons we are home educating and looking at these extra things to boost confidence and help with anxiety and shyness.
Ordered an academic year diary so when the LA come knocking I have a diary of what we have done and explored and activites. I have alreayd written a preliminary report on what we intend to be learning and what resources we are using.
OH cleaned all the litter trays and loaded the DW so I vacuumed all the mess he had made spilling litter all over the house..
DD1 had a panic trying to ring to make hair mincing appointments for the boys so I did that for her too.. I swear I have the most dependent adult children!
2 ebeast sales to pack up and post on Saturday.. not sold anything for a while and 2 things sold this morning! I want to get winter coats listed this week.. they will sell with cold weather coming up on us and I have some school bits can go too when I get 5 minutes to sort through them.
Tomorrow we are heading to his mothers as early as is beanly possible after Squeak has been showered and desperately hoping we are not 7 hours on the road.. The junction before we need to come off is closed from 8pm which leads to an additional 30 minute detour we do NOT need down sinlge lanes with unrestricted speed limit in pitch blackness.. no thank you! so we need to be leaving about 5:30ish at the absolute latest and I will have anxiety about it all the way home until we get past that junction... We do need to unload the bed and manky mattress in the morning and load up the power washer to clean her patio since sil's partner is clearly incapable of doing anything useful or helpful or practical .. makes me so mad! OH would gladly go powerwash my mothers yard without a second thought.. he would probably come round you any of your houses to help you out if you were stuck.. I don't get why some people are so lazy and ungiving, there is a special place in Hell for them!
Darn it.. my stress pain in my chest is back.. tomorrows drive and the new things for Squeak and everything is catching up.
Love and hugs and GWS particularly for Mummy Narco.. and I meant to say yesterday.. Natty, I still have the beautiful cardigans you sent me for Squeak, my daughter used a couple for her 4 babies too. You look after yourself, a bit of self care and a huge sobbing session is good for the soul sometimes. It is good to embrace those feelings and let them loose it must be a painful thing to hold inside. sending you all the love and hugs I have going spare.. and some spoons because you have achieved so much recently!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)7 -

Akso, re the utilities, various Flyladies have Octopus - and a sign up code where each of you would get a £50 bonus. So if you're thinking of swapping Kazwookie, Dancemum, myself for 3 - there may be others.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Morning. I'm on Pure Planet, and they have a referral scheme too (but a less generous £25 each). At the time I swapped over, they were cheapest for a 2-year fix, though I think they may have been undercut since.
YL, I hope you get your oven sorted easily and cheaply.
Safe and easy travelling to pigpen & Co.
Glad to hear that your mum is getting on well at home, thanks to the ministrations of her new nursemaid, Narc0. Take care of yourself too!
DGS1 has induction at his senior school today. Just hoping that His Dreaminess doesn't leave his school bag on the train!
DH is taking me out to lunch, so I want to get lots of bitty jobs done this morning, with just S&S flying.
Happy Friday, everyone xx9
