  • Two years ago I switched to Nationwide using the £100 refer-a-friend offer. Does anyone know if I can now switch another account to Nationwide and get the £125? I looked at T&Cs but it's rather ambiguous...

This is a new offer. It doesn't matter whether or not you used the refer a friend in the past.

My OH and I used the £100 refer a friend with each other to get £400 all together. Masonic is correct that this is a different offer and you are OK. However just to be sure we opened new flexaccounts and the Cass switch process is part of the online application for the new accounts and is very straightforward.

I can understand £200, but how did you achieve £400?

    Amazing, well done!

IIRC, each partner could refer the other and thereby net 2 x £100 each.
  • Can anybody clarify the following issue for me? Thanks.

I've had a TSB Spend and Save account for about 6 months and am due to receive the final £5 payment for 30 debit card payments per month in September, so I'm thinking of applying for a new S&S account to try to get another 6 months of £5 payments.

If I were to apply for the S&S account and then a week later attempt to apply for a Nationwide current account, could the Nationwide application be refused because of the recent TSB account application? Or would the S&S account application be invisible to the Nationwide and so shouldn't matter?

All hard searches are recorded on your credit files, and this information is visible to all providers. AFAIK, TSB performs a hard search when you apply for a current account, so yes, Nationwide will be able to see that TSB performed a hard search for you. They would not know the result of that search, and they are very unlikely to turn you down for a current account because of it. It's credit card, loan, overdraft and mortgage applications which might fail if you have multiple searches in a short period of time. But just two hard searches are highly unlikely to create any issue, and certainly not for current account applications.

It won't be invisible. A record of it will be left with Experian (hard search) and fraud prevention databases (National Hunter and SIRA). Whether it affects Nationwide's decision or not...

Anyone know if Are you eligible for the £125 if you previously (probably 2 years ago!) got the £100 for switching to a Flex Direct account?

Can’t seem to find anything in the T&Cs

EDIT: Just seen masonic’s response above, which seems similar to my situation. Will get some DDs set up
    Overdraft: PAID:D
    OU Course Fees: PAID:D
:money:Now to save for mortgage... :money:

For what it's worth, I've had both the previous RAF incentive and this offer on my Nationwide current account (the same one both times) and I've been paid the full £125 this time around. As above, the terms of the current incentive refer to "this offer" so any previous switching incentives don't have any impact in determining your eligibility.
