New Nationwide Switch - both new and existing?

Just tried twice to open a joint account and switch (from sole account - is this ok) and we get accepted but on the final screen I tap finish and nothing happens.colsten said:
You can switch as many sole accounts as you please to sole or joint accounts but you will only get the switch bonus once. See T&Cs.ChocolateWombat said:Hi.
is it possible for 2 solo accounts (in different names) to be switched into the same joint NW account and get 2 switching bonuses? Thanks.
Has anyone else had this problem.
I will try again tomorrow. Maybe the bank holiday ?

IIRC an email usually follows a successful account application (perhaps someone who has recently opened an account could confirm).topcat105 said:

Yes I opened a sole account last week and had confirmation by email and text message.masonic said:

I also noticed on the joint application I couldn't choose the exact date of my switch.
It was either 'switch now' or 'switch later'.1 -
If you lack confidence it wont have taken the 2nd DD, or NW may fail to track it on a same day start, it only takes a couple of minutes to alter it to a 'safe' switching date on line.. so if you don't want to end up having to conjure another switch, do the belt and braces and move it back a day or two.CRISPIANNE3 said:I have just checked my DD's and I have one leaving on the 1st September and two leaving on the 6th September. However the start of the switch is on the 6th. I thought the 2nd direct debits were on the 4th. Not sure now if I should shift the date now to 7th September to start the process.
How to alter start (and so alter end date)? See Colsten's helpful post on page 18.
Note don't be surprised when it requires you to go through security a 2nd time.1 -
I have now changed the pending date to start switch on the 7 September and completes now on the 15th. I originally applied to switch on the 19 August so this is still within the 30 days.masonic said:
The 4th is a Saturday, so it should come as no surprise they will pay out on the next working day. I don't understand why you are considering making changes to the switch as a result of this.CRISPIANNE3 said:I have just checked my DD's and I have one leaving on the 1st September and two leaving on the 6th September. I've just received my £125 (did the switch on first day this offer went up). I did risk only getting £100, as I only had a savings account with Nationwide that had £0 in it for quite some time, but apparently that was enough to class me as an existing member so I got the full £125 in the end

Flex Account opened: 18.08.21
Switch completed: 27.08.21
£125 received: 31.08.21.
Quick and efficient!
Nationwide weren't bad eiither.

I applied for the switch from the Nationwide website last friday but because i hadnt got my driving licence to hand i couldnt send proof of i'd and so the switch date will be delayed until 13th september. I have a regular direct debit taken on the 15th september from my old bank. So im hoping two days is enough time in advance for the DD to be set up and taken from the new Nationwide account on the 15th!0

I don't think it's a coincidence that the time it takes for a switch to complete coincides with the time it takes to set up a new DD and arrange it to pay out.Collyflower1 said:I applied for the switch from the Nationwide website last friday but because i hadnt got my driving licence to hand i couldnt send proof of i'd and so the switch date will be delayed until 13th september. I was not sure if the 2 DD's i've just set up on an old account would be deemed 'active' but I just chatted to Nationwide who said:An 'active' Direct Debit is one which has been set up or had a payment taken in the last 13 months.
This means any 'unused mandates' (such as new Direct Debits which haven't yet been paid) and 'ad-hoc mandates' (such as PayPal) are defined as 'active'.So as long as at least 2 are set up it's ok for the switch money even if nothing's been paid out on them, great news!7
