Waving from Dorset as we're staying with my mum. Her 90th birthday party is Wed so today the 3 of us:
Did some gardening
Wrote out name place cards, worked out seating plan for 15, drove to venue to deliver them and do final checks .
Went to Mr L
Took garden pruning to the tip
Sorted through old photos; yesterday I had the bright but rather late idea of putting photos of Mum with each person on the entrance table. Found a great one of her oldest best friend when they were Girl Guides.
Tomorrow is final dust and vacuum (tea and cakes in her garden after the restaurant); I have oasis and flowers soaking ready to do an arrangement then we're free to walk down to the each and swim.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10 -

V. proud of myself.
Poppy (cat) loves a scratch post - so much so that they get shredded. So the middle section of her current one was completely bald. I trimmed off the top and bottom sections, Used hot glue to bond loose ends back to the post and rewrapped the middle section using hot glue and a hank of rope DS made here when he was about 4 (with help obviously - if you go the the link the rope making is the picture bottom left). So Poppy has a good-as-new scratching post and landfill stays a little emptier and I have saved £10 or so. (Maybe I ought to join the frugal thread).
WUALTD, washed soaked-in-turps-substitute paintbrush.

Valli - I always found round neck easier to knit but that might just be me!

Evening, all.
My achievements today:
- wrote a list and promptly ignored most of it
- did WMx3 and hung out to dry
- moved some pots containing dead fruit bushes off the decking, with a view to emptying them and also sweeping the decking later this week
- sorted various bits of finance
- sent a birthday e-card and some emails
- read some more of Dana K White's blog, where my eye was caught by "before" and "after" photos of the corner of her bedroom. "Before" was remarkably similar to one corner of my bedroom! Decided that, if she could clear her corner, I could clear mine, and did exactly that. It meant rearranging 3 shelves in my linen cupboard and putting the boxes full of the ancestors' record sheets in a prominent place where I see them every time I come into the study, instead of tucking them away behind my chair, but I hope that will motivate me to sort out and file at least one more generation this week. Trouble is, the generations get bigger as I come down the family...
- cooked a quick but substantial lunch in the hope that it would stop me nibbling all afternoon
- only got about 20 minutes' zzz on the sofa (but at least I relaxed and put my feet up)
- took Reluctant Rosie for her walk in the woods, a great contrast to her eagerness yesterday (perhaps she actually misses the boys)
- cooked a delicious tea
Must sign in to a Zoom meeting now.

Iona sounds like a happy time for you all, nice to be with family at last.
So today was our 25th wedding anniversary. We both had to work but finished early and drove to the coast to walk on the sea front and have fish and chips in a favourite cafe.
One load of washing done and almost dried outside. Did 10.5 hours at the paid stuff yesterday so very little flying, but I will catch up later in the week.
Bedtime soon.11 -

I have completed Monday's and Tuesday's list; Wednesday's list will be going up imminently; I'm off on a jolly though.

Happy anniversary YL. Hope tomorrow's treatment goes well Kazwookie.
Big pre-party flying today. Between us, Mum and I cleaned, de webbed and tidied lounge, bathroom, stairs/landing.
Mr N did final garden tidy and we rearranged garden chairs and pot plants to give clear access for guests.
Flower arrangements done; one for lounge hearth and one to take to pub dining area. We've requested a clear table at the entrance to display photos so the arrangement will go there.
Photos sorted, ranging from one of my mum aged about 4 kissing an equally small friend on the beach, a photo album dating from 1941 of mum's school days, nursery nurse training and early working days; mum at her 80th with all 10 children and stepchildren etc. Lots of memories for her, especially as the early ones were taken by her mother who worked as a photographer assistant before her marriage.
Labels written, plates and serviettes put out ready for cake.
Managed to all meet Mr N's brother for a walk, final supermarket dash on way home.
Varnished Mum's and my nails after dinner.
Sorry I'm pants at putting photos on, they always end up too big - any suggestions?Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.11
